Do you think of yourself and other people as a sort of Animal, or you consider yourself superior to animals?
Please explain your thoughts.

The human condition is political, not biological. Cicero described those outside of the "civilization" of Rome as subhuman.

Yes. I and others are biologically classified as animals. No, I don't consider myself superior to other animals.

None of the poll choices reflect my views on the subject. And animals "talk" to each other. If you were smarter than them, you'll probably understand what they were saying. ;)

I have realized that those that try to use polls here do not think out there chosen options anywhere close to perfectly. If I answer one I will try for the best option, knowing that the right one does not exist. I agree that we are not the only animals that talk. We merely appear to do it better than others, though I could not even say that for sure.

"appellari ceteros homines, esse solos eos, qui essent politi propriis humanitatis artibus" ~ Cicero, De re publica I, xvii, 28.

"Thus, not all men are humani or demonstrate humanitas. Only in the civilization of the Roman Empire and its social order does humanitas count as an educational value and socio-ethical virtue. Those who live outside the Empire are not yet fully 'human,' they are 'barbarians'." ~ Hendrik Birus

Yeah, I'd have gone for option 1 had the qualifier not been added.

You're conflating the terms 'human' and 'humane.'

So we're animals all right. But we are not the only ones who can speak.

I would say the mental feature that we seem to have (occasionally), which separates us from other animals, is that we can project long-term outcomes from our current activities.
Alas; this is far too seldom utilized by many human animals. :pensive::facepalm:

I think humans are a social animal, and we apparently evolved to learn that cooperative effort yields better results, which led to the social contract and the art of politics which we all know and love so much.

Given only two options it has to be the first. Although, just as we might be superior in many ways to the vast majority of other life, we might not be in many other ways. And we simply don't know enough as to communications in much of non-human life to comment too much as to our superiority in this aspect, even if such language does seem to give us an advantage in abstract thinking. Before we had such though, were we that much better than all other life? I predict, along with many no doubt, that AI will be the thing that will open up our understanding as to non-human communications.

Besides all this, I don't see humans as being better or superior to other life, just different. And certainly not in charge over such, even if it seems this way and us taking the reins by default.
