Is it enough to believe?

Let's get more basic--some people call themselves Christian because their parents did so.

How can someone who does not trust in God receive ultimate transformative power from God?
As a Buddhist my self i understand you thought about one have to work to gain the "gift" or "wisdom" that lay infront of us when we try to live up to the teaching :)

indeed....
and that question brings to mind the wandering in the wilderness
40days and nights

use the gift?
for what?
self sustaining need?
proving of self in the face of another?

who then is worthy?

Are the Geeta or the Vedas the Word of God?

Yes. Bhagavad Gita literaly means "Song of God". It is Sri Krishna's instructions to his friend Arjuna on righteous living, worshiping and serving God. The Vedas were transcendentally received by the rishis (sages) over hundreds of years from intense meditation and austerities. There was no voice from the sky, but they are apaurusheya, a Sanskrit word meaning not made by man, i.e. divine.

When we look at the major religions specially the abrahamic religions the norm today is it is enough to belive in God or Jesus to get to heaven. But it is really that easy?

In most Asian religion the teachings say do this (the there are guidelines) and you will see progress, and if you do really well you reach enlightenment ( you must walk the path you self, not just get taken up by Buddha or Shiva if you belive in them)

Should humans not do their best to do what the religion say "they should do" instead of just Yes i belive and now i go to heaven?

I do not judge anyone who do have the belief of "now i belive then i go to heaven" I only ask the question because i not sure i understand how it would be possible.

I don’t know what the Asian religions teach.

But what you say makes complete sense.

Mainline Christianity has it wrong.

Since I cannot perfect myself morally, there is no work to gain anything after I trust Jesus--for me, salvation is I'm not trusting BB, I'm trusting Jesus.

No one is worthy save Christ, as I understand salvation, I can NEVER perfect myself so Christ died to perfect me for Heaven.

Why do adults believe any of it, that is the question.

Happy to compare notes - as someone that went to a missionary school in Bombay and had a lot of friends who identified with Islam - have some familiarity with the Abrahamic faiths - as I have said - there are plenty of similarities in the teachings - in fact if you look at the first Seal in the Book of Revelation and the legend surrounding Kalki the final appearance of Lord Vishnu - the similarities are enough to send a chill up anyone's spine - I am always willing to listen and learn as long as I do not get condemned for my beliefs and ways

That’s so cool to me that you mentioned the chill up your spine.
I believe that God is in all religions, it’s up to the individual to find God.

The same God in different religions or different Gods in different religions? - can you clarify please.

Sure. To me, there can only be ONE god.
Therefore, that God is found in all religions. Even if that god is represented in many different ways. Allah, Mithra, etc.
In Hawaii, they have 5 gods, I think. I know of Pele, but there are others. These 5 are all the ONE god. Maybe something like the Trinity, in Christianity (which I don’t believe). But the belief system, to me, has no relevance. The only thing of importance, is the heart of the believers, and their actions, as a result of their heart.

Is God schizophrenic?
