Is it possible to find meaning in entertainment ?

Such as movies and tv shows and YouTube and porn and social media can these things bring meaning to life or do they make feelings of emptiness worse ?

What I'd recommend for emptiness is music. A lot of people say it keeps them sane. I mostly stick with popular songs, but some people like to explore every niche for new sounds.

it's not an "either-or". The feelings of emptiness are meaningful, significant. Because of this, my answer to your question is 100% yes without any exclusions. I can elaborate if there is interest.

Best wishes sincerely,

People in 1000 years may think the same of our entertainment.

Who knows? Maybe old scripts of "Beavis and Butthead" will be revered and often quoted as many do with Shakespeare today.

Yes it is.
Here is one such web site that finds Biblical meaning in video games:

I think meaning can be found in entertainment today. Certainly not everything. It seems the problem most have with media, entertainment, etc. is actually oversaturation and difficulty finding exactly what clicks with them. It's too much and it's not that it is not enough, perhaps. Learn to cut it off. Find some meaning and fulfillment in a book or take up art. You don't have to be an artist to appreciate art or to dabble with it as a hobby.

What is it exactly that you like to watch, listen to, do, etc.?

I'm currently sobering up and fiddling around the internet. So forgive me if I ramble on.

All humans create meaning through narratives. I'm not sure there is any other way to create meaning. Entertainment has always been a source of narratives, and a means of conveying knowledge in ways that make people more likely to listen and remember.

Anyone with a sense of purpose construct it through narrative also, religions, ideologies and other aspects of mythos are obvious examples.

One common way to create meaning and purpose include linking yourself to something bigger than the self, people often do this with fandoms be these sports, novels, entertainment franchises or religions.

Narratives can also be inspirations, they can explain aspects of existence more effectively than scientific journals, or offer an aspirational figure to emulate or set of values to strive towards.

They can connect you to the past and future in ways that help transcend a finite existence. Or they can simply offer a form of escapism or fire the imagination in an enjoyable manner.

Narratives can also make the emptiness worse of course, and create a sense of futility and purposeless. But that depends on the consumer and their choices and mindset.
