Why is that?I don't believe he's the only way. I'm not even sure he's a way.
I am very happy for you, you are content with your Religious dictates, and that is a blessing. From my own perspective, I personally disagree with the interpretation of that passage, but I may well be wrong; but who cares, we differ in our beliefs, but I respect yours, as I hope you do mine.fromthe heart said:If you believe in the Bible and I do...it says"I am the way the Truth and the Light; No man cometh unto the Father but by Me", Jesus said it and given His senority in those who walked the earth...I believe He is the ONLY way.
I most certianly respect your beliefs...I believe they used to be more the same as mine??? I respect everyones beliefs but who's to say who's right...The Bible says it and didn't you used to believe that?michel said:I am very happy for you, you are content with your Religious dictates, and that is a blessing. But is it truely just if someone else pays our debts?also belive it makes sense that for us to get into heaven Christ had to suffer and die the way he did. God being Just and Holy must punish sin so couldnt let us into heaven without doing so, so either we pay for our sins in hell or Jesus does on the cross
Because I have no reason to believe that someone's afterlife hinges on the belief in one person. That makes absolutely no sense.JesusIsTheWay said:Why is that?
My God is loving, righteous, merciful and just. He doesn't condemn people for not "knowing any better" and He doesn't play Russian Roulet with our souls. Do I totally understand how he accomplishes this? Nope...but I have faith that God won't send anyone to hell who doesn't deserve it.Draka said:If your "god" is so full of love for his creations then why would he condemn over half the planet for "not knowing any better"??? Religion is mainly a hereditary and geographical thing.
And...of course, that's not exactly how it was, but it's similar. You're at the bottom of a mountain. At the very top is heaven. Jesus made a nice, clear path, with just a few rocks and potholes of life. It leads directly to the top. Christians follow that path. Other religions follow other paths, but they were cleared by fallible, imperfect humans, so they're not nearly as easy. Some people try to make their own paths, which is exhausting and takes a lot of time, but may get them to the top. Some religions with a lot of extra junk are curly paths, going back and forth and looking really nice but taking a lot of time and effort. Cults start out looking just like Jesus's path, clear and easy. But then they take a turn, and instead of going up the mountain, circle the bottom of the mountain, making you think you're going somewhere when really, you're not.
Well see heres the thing. We all deserve it! Me included. For example, what is your definition of a good person? Somebody who does right in mans eyes? If you murdered somebody that makes you a murder. And nobody respects murders. Yes, there are Christians that have killed (ex Crusades and such) I do not agree with those actions. But anyway back to my point. If you lie that makes you a liar. If you steal that makes you a theif. If you look lustfully upon somebody your an adulter. Who hasen't done that? Are those things good? Yes, we all do them, they're common among humans. So what makes us not deserve it? He treats us much better then we deserve. And God is loving. He is love.Nope...but I have faith that God won't send anyone to hell who doesn't deserve it
Heres the thing. We are judged according to our accountibility. He is just and fair, He will not send somebody to hell if they are in innocence. I'm not sure exactly how God will judge them, but I trust He will be just in His judgement. As Christians, it is our job to tell the world about Christ. And if we don't, the blood is on our hands. But thats getting off topic. He doesn't condemn people for not "knowing any better"
Exactly, John 3:14-17 says this, "Then everyone who has faith in the Son of Man [Jesus] will hve eternal life. God loved the people of this world so much that He gave His only Son, so tht everyone who has faith in Him will have eternal life and never really die. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent Him to save them!" (CEV) God offered us a way out of hell, Jesus Christ. How is that unfair or unjust? He longed to spent eternity with us so much, that He sent His Son to die for our sins and gave Him the punishment we deserve. What to know true love? Its found only in one place. We condemned ourselves. Jesus has come to save us, not condemn us.
Umm... okay. He is giving us free will. He will never "force" Himself down anybodies throat. Its our own decision if we follow Him or not. We have free will to decide, its just we can decide eternal torment and pain, or eternal life and happines. Its a choice.A God who expects his creations to believe what they are told with no active thought in the matter obviously is not looking for free will, either.
When it is the Son of God, yes.But is it truely just if someone else pays our debts?
