I don't have a moral issue with prostitution, but my disdain for capitalism translates into a disdain for prostitution. It's like almost any other job, demeaning. Just like drugs, it should be legalized and regulated for the sake of safety.

You're wrong. It's right.

and it's against the law.
Depends on where you're talking about.

Acceptable? Depends on one's views on morality. Should it be legal? Sure, better to protect sex workers than to make it impossible to go for help without being in jail.

I don't have a problem with prostitution in general. In fact I've read that some prostitutes develop a higher self-esteem for their body through their work. It shouldn't be illegal for many reasons.

Well?

I say yes. I believe in self-ownership and sexual freedom. I think it should be legalized to protect the rights of sex workers and their safety.
This really depends on whether the nation has sufficient laws and systems to protect the men and women involved from exploitation, trafficking, STD and whether the persons are not stigmatized by society. So my answer will vary from country to country.

Prostitution itself is at least as morally acceptable as several activities that are lent a lot of prestige in most societies.

However, it is often joined by objectificaton and emotional manipulation that are far less defensable.

It does not help that there is a social stigma which makes the activity somewhat clandestine and encourages deceipt.

TDLR: Yes, it is, but we should not neglect the environment that surrounds it. It may well be immoral.

As long as all involved are informed, consenting adults, then there should be no issue. Unless you hate freedom.
That's more or less where I am coming from though I would hope people of all natures have substantially better life choices available.

It's a job like any other. Efforts should be directed in protecting the workers (abuse, etc...) And clients (STD, etc...) So it become safe and valid mean to earn a living.

I see no problem in it. Like abortion, making it illegal will only encourage underground sex work and the absence of rules and safety will make a lot of things worse. So why outlaw it ? It's the oldest job in the world after all.

If i contract with you to build a fence, then you do not build me a fence, I can sue for damages.

Worse still, sex with a specific person is unique. Should the court then be allowed to order specific performance?

Asking for the right to contract with sex as a consideration necessarily involves the government in some sex. I would think that this is an area we should tread very carefully.

Further, can a spouse require sex as part of their marital contract?

I voted no. However i would change that to a yes if we could do so in way that preserved individuals rights, kept government out of consenting sexual relations.

Why is it wrong? What about in areas where it isn't against the law?

If it isn't wrong but it is a perfectly fine thing to do, then I suppose you would have no problem with your wife, sisters, mother and daughters starting up their own prostitution business. Freebees or a discount for all for the first serving. After all, it isn't wrong and is quite beneficial financially, right?

No, I don't have a problem with that. I don't control the female members of my family. Their bodies don't belong to me.
