That is correct,... if we discount death as an ill effect.

I could also claim the benefit of following God's principle in our lives. However you would be right again in saying this claim cannot be measured or proven.

God can do anything, including measure or prove his benefits. But, if he proves himself, God undoes free will. We would no longer have the free will to disbelieve if the proof was right in front of us.
 
we begin as a legion "satan is legion" where re ligion must re do ligion into legion that returns again and again to reach god as religion is the whole journey from evil to god.
