Is revenge sometimes justified?

Revenge is nice but it is useless. It keeps the cylce of karma going round and round and round...

I don't know, I've had people get "back" at me for things I wasn't aware of doing.

Guess it can go hand in hand. I use to be the vengeful type but now I believe it just makes me look just as ridiculous as the other person.

Momma always said pick and choose your battles.

In the sense that revenge is a reaction, revenge is always justified - because there would not have been a reaction without an action. However, if we are capable of revenge yet decide not to execute it, it would present us with an opportunity to take the relationship to a more fruitful level.

When and why?

It all depends on the context. In either case I think it is best not to get obsessed with it. It is maybe not a moral stance as much as a stance when it comes to health... if you never forgive it may strike back at your mental health. But I won´t say I know anything, I am just saying what pops into my head, lol.

If you want to be forgiven, you must learn to forgive first.

Great words to live by, but people are not perfect.

In a way, justice contains an element of revenge.

Never said they where. Would just be a hypocrite if I said so, lol. If anyone is imperfect it is me. But being unforgiving was never a part of that. As I see it, justice is about balance, about what is right or wrong, while forgiveness is about healing.

In a way, justice contains an element of revenge.
But at the same time it is so much more.

Revenge is justified in many situations. "Justice" is, in many ways, just revenge without the personal element.

However, taking personal vengeance on someone, while possibly justified, is not always practical.

Revenge is justified when the person deserves it, and when it does more good than harm for the person taking the revenge.
