Is RF unhealthy?

Undeniable there're some non-believer who would used extreme language to insult believer, or that believer insult other believer, depends on the context of the discussion.
I can skip insults easily. I'm a big boy :)
What makes me feel frustrated is fruitless arguing about nothing, while there are so many other things that would really be inspiring.
Also, I must say that some people should be treated with more care, because they have difficulties. I felt really good when I had discussion with one young member here, who was in real pain. He told me that he felt better after all. It was a short debate (no other participants), just two of us, and I find it's the best thing I've done here.

I've heard rumors about this "life" thing. People describe it as being "amazing" and "incredible". I've heard that only a few people ever really get one.
But to this day I've never heard any really solid descriptions about what it actually is.
Probably nothing more than a rumor, honestly.
Not a rumor, trust me. For a few hours today, while working on important part of my project (job) I had feeling that big, heavy, black tarantula standing on the top of my head. It's not a joke.

Just take a look at statistics: usually less then 0.2% members are online.
More then 25.000 members and only about 50 online. Is that normal?

So, what shall we do about that? I can see that you put so much effort to make this place interesting, even some people don't take you seriously. I take you seriously. Thank you.

I guess it depends on my mood. Sometimes I reply with the back clarifying my stance, sometimes with a challenge. Sometimes I just report it and let it take its course. Nothing specific I follow really. And thank you too.

Actually not. I really like and respect every religion, even the most unpopular one, like Scientology... I wish I could have a discussion about Islam, with people of that religion. As Laika said, I can read books and inform myself about almost everything, but I can't speak with people of Islam religion, and there are thing I would really like to hear from them. I don't know much about Islam, I was always fascinated with one story I heard from one Bedouin. Another thing, I really wish to know why people of Islam don't do something really serious in order not to be perceived as ISIS by the rest of the world.
Thank you.

As Shia Muslims, we are the first target of ISIS.
Good luck in your readings about Islam. And whenever you have a question I will be glad to share my views.

You were lucky.
To have a @Wirey was an affliction, not an asset.

You had an affliction?! Sheer luxury! Having an affliction would have been like winning the lottery for us. Not that we had a lottery mind you, it were just another distant dream. Not that we had dreams of course, or distance come to that, we only lived in one dimension - so we just had a point, though even that were pointless....

I wish I had a point.

Internet forums should provide a wealth of information as well as entertainment.
In my short life here, I find that RF is an unhealthy place, where I can gather information that is most often useless and a worst distraction from my actual life.
I wish I am wrong about RF, but that's my opinion.
I think you expect too much. Leonardo da Vinci is said to have remarked that "Most men are of naught more use in their lives but as machines for turning food into ****." I'm often amazed at the number of people here who cannot frame or recognise a logical argument, but then I remind myself that I'm not dealing with academics!

Academics aren't immune to that either. Then again, self-described, internet academics probably aren't the most accurate representation of the group.

You don't have to be an academic or even smart, just read the introduction to RF:

Like just about anything else, I think how we use things impacts whether it's healthy or not. RF included. It can be a distraction from real life. I think balance is important.

There are times when I spend too much time on RF, or spend time here when I feel I should be doing something else. If I persist in being here when I think I shouldn't, I think that has a negative impact on me, one that I would call unhealthy. If I start to feel like RF is a negative place, and yet I don't get my own self to doing more positive things, I think the issue is really with me.

Sometimes I find conversations stimulating and informative. Sometimes I'm just here for the fun of goofing around.

At other times, I find conversations stale, stifling, limited, and often just rehashing a bunch of the same old, same old. Sometimes I find conversations challenge the way I see things, and sometimes it seems there are subjects that some members seem to feel they "own" where one can't really have an open conversation on those subjects without those members just dominanting the conversation to beat out any view but what they might consider the official, or only view an intelligent person would have -- so I've decided I don't care to discuss those kinds of things here.

Overall, I like it here. In order for me to continue to like it here, and in order for me to have it be more positive than negative, I find I do best with taking regular, extended breaks from it.
