Christians like to think it's the word of God based on verses like John chapter 1 vs 1, and 2nd Timothy 3:16.I don't know but would be somewhat interested to find out
It's a collection of scrolls, or little books, eventually divided up into verses and then chapters. Since at the time of its writing it wasn't yet completely assembled, it was referred to as scriptures among many other things. (Matthew 21:42; Romans 1:2)I don't know but would be somewhat interested to find out
The Bible is an anthology of books and letters. The various authors would not have been aware of all the other books that would eventually become the Bible. However, parts of the Bible became accepted scriptures in stages, each stage aware of the previous stages.I don't know but would be somewhat interested to find out
The Torah was the first to be accepted.
It does refer to scripture in various parts, as in ‘all scripture is god-breathed’, with the claim that anything written in apostolic epistles should be considered inspired. But that would probably mean other writings that didn’t survive too, and the OT+NT bible in the form we have it now didn’t exist until much later.I don't know but would be somewhat interested to find out
I think ‘bible’ means the official, comprehensive guide to something or other. Like the official compendium. The Bible is a word meaning more then one. Meaning there is more then one book. The way the Bible is discribed is the Word of God.
Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the ruler over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God: Whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
The Torahs authority is already reflected in Ezra and Nehemiah, both believed to have been written in the 5th century BCE. Nehemiah 8:1 "Now all the people gathered as one man to the square that was before the Water Gate, and they said to Ezra the scholar to bring the scroll of the Law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded Israel." This depicts how the Torah was read authoritatively after the return from captivity. What is your evidence for this? Also, accepted by whom?
Note, for example, the list of the Biblical books found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, the top six being:
- 39 -- Psalms
- 33 -- Deuteronomy
- 25 -- 1 Enoch
- 24 -- Genesis
- 22 -- Isaiah
- 21 -- Jubilees
- 18 -- Exodus
- 17 -- Leviticus
- 11 -- Numbers
In other words, you have no evidence. Nice chat ...This depicts how the Torah was read authoritatively after the return from captivity.
The Bible means the Word of God. The Bible teaches us what Gods word is and how to follow his word. Only them that study the Bible and follow God's word will be rewarded with him.I think ‘bible’ means the official, comprehensive guide to something or other. Like the official compendium.
No, but I think something is mentioned in Revelation about not making changes to the book. I'll presume it's about that specific book and not the entire bible, so...I don't know but would be somewhat interested to find out
Yes, I think there is such a thingI think something is mentioned in Revelation about not making changes to the book
