The Holy Spirit is not an autonomous being or entity, it is God's empowerment to mankind as He sees fit. For, God is both holy and spirit, and thus bestows at His will such an influence on those who are created in His image - spiritual beings.

The female principle is connected to matter; mother. It is connected to the unique ability of women to bear children. Mother Nature is based on the matter and material things of the natural world.
The masculine principle is more connected to spirit, which is more analogous to thought. Men create the majority of ideas; brain children. The saying that the spirit is within you; inner voice, is connected to the spirit being connected to the brain. The spirit is not outside you like the matter of the universe, rather it is within you; brain. The spirit can create it own type of reality; perception and expectation, based on learning. Different political parties see the say outer reality in different ways. The spirit can alter and animate the same reality in different ways.
Science is more feminine and seeks to find God/wisdom by studying matter, They expect to see God, outside; seeing is believing. But the spirit is not feminine or matter based. Being masculine means it needs to be sensed through introspection; inner man. The inner man is more like brain software; information, then hardware; substance.
When the Bible claims Adam was formed by the spirit of God, this tells us Adam was not a result of genetics or mutations. That path would have used symbolism like the Mother Nature brought Adam forth from the womb of nature. Rather his birth was more connected to a change in the brain's operating system. If you brought a child from a poor and deprived place, into a school for gifted children, there would major changes in their personality and mind, without their DNA having to lead or change; spirit enhancing the operating system.
My guess the update in the operating system of Adam's brain; new type of human, was connected to the invention of written language. This invention allowed his mind to develop new learning and applied strategies from writing, reading and studying. The dust of the earth was the stone dust from making stone tablets; spirit manipulating matter; applied science.
In the beginning was the (written) word and the (first written) word was God. Innovations like written language started within the brain. This is why the symbolism of Adam's and Eve's birth goes out of its way to show it was not from Mother Nature. It was change in the spirit; operating system. This allows advanced behavior in Adam and Eve compared to the rest of the humans; hunters, herders and gatherers They all had human DNA, but not all had the update in the brain's operating system; analogous to DOS to Windows.
