Is the WWE fake?

The people on the WWE are trained athletes. However, all the story lines are pre-scripted. In other words, they know in advance who will win matches, titles, and such. But it is still athletic, and people do really get hurt. But most of the attacks are "acted", and not real.

Fake meaning that when they hit each other, they aren't really hitting each other? Fake meaning that most of the signs in the audience are given to the people by WWE staff? Fake meaning that the 'storyline' (and I use that term loosely) is scripted, meaning that the outcome of a fight is usually predetermined?

Yeah, its fake. Dangerous, yes. Real, no. It's a show. It's entertainment. I would not go so far to call them athletes. Physically fit (some of them anyway), yes.

I use to do that sort of wrestling. It's called sports-entertainment because that is what it is. They are athletes of tremendous endurance, they put there bodies through hell, and they very typically are in a great physical shape.
However it's important to mention people do get punched, kicked, and no matter what taking bumps as they are called (falling and landing on your back from typically a standing position, or as high as from the top of a ladder or cage) do hurt. There is no way around it. Some submission holds are very uncomfortable to be in, some do hurt, but some you couldn't make them hurt. Some wrestlers take great care to not hurt anyone, some just don't care and they will hurt people.
As for how scripted it is, typically it is only a general storyline and who will win the match. But things do not always go as planned. During an interview or angle they are told specific points to make, but it is the wrestler that comes up with the exact words. The outcome of matches is predetermined, and maybe an interference or other event, but exactly what happens during a match and how it ends is spur of the moment and deals with what is called ring psychology, or knowing how to read a crowd to get the biggest response out of them.
Really I wouldn't call it fake. It hurts too much to be fake. Many have broken bones, lost teeth, broken necks, become paralyzed, and some have even died. Concussions are not uncommon, and sore muscles and bruises are very common. Myself I tore my left ACL during a match. I have even seen grown men cry because of the pain involved. One of my friends just retired from it because his knees cannot take anymore abuse. There are matches where you can see someone snapping their shin bone, breaking tail bones, a broken ankle, broken necks, teeth being knocked out, and even in at least one case a popped implant.
Indeed it is a sport and they take much more abuse than anyone in the NFL. But it is also pretty much a soap opera form of entertainment. I've lost all interest in it, but I still have respect for what they do, as no one goes into it thinking they are going to make a living off of it.

I heard that the WWE wrestlers are totally actors, do you think that this is true?

I wouldn't say fake as much as it is "staged"....

It's entertainment.

It's a far cry different than MMA (Mixed Martial Arts, sometimes called cage or octagon fighting) or (Tough Man Competitions). I only attend or watch MMA or standard boxing.

So..it's fake if movements are fake and the results are fake, isn't it?

I think this is the best answer.

It's a circus act. It's not wrestling. It's not even fighting. It's a cartoonish form of entertainment for adolescent boys.

Te skill involved isn't fake, the injuries aren't fake, therefore not fake.

As far as being actors...uh, yeah. You thought they were real?

I wouldn't underestimate the reach of wrestling. During the late 90's and early 2000's it was everywhere, and even today there is still a massive market for it. No one would pump that much money into Wrestlemania if it didn't have the promise of an even bigger return. Wrestling is watched by far more than just the stereotypes of rednecks and teenaged boys. People just don't want to admit the soap opera of big muscled men and big boobed women is their guilty pleasure.
