Is there a migrant crisis? New York City says yes.
Adams Weirdly Says Migrant Crisis Will ‘Destroy New York City
"Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City,” Adams said. He warned that “we have a $12 billion deficit that we’re going to have to cut. Every service in this city is going to be impacted.”

During a town hall meeting on the Upper West Side Wednesday night, the mayor said he doesn’t “see an ending” to the problem.nymag.com
Oh, woop.First, you can agree I was replying to your post about our southern borders, therefore it should've made "a lick of sense," in that context.
Second, you could say the same thing about our current, relatively recent ownership of the Mexican territory that prior to their rule, belonged to the the indigenous peoples, so that argument doesn't really work, since in that case, our country's ancestors weren't European.
You must be apoplectic that the majority of those living here illegally on expired visas are those nasty Canadians - since it can’t possibly be just the brown people you worry about…My apologies. I keep forgetting that the sea of people flooding across the US southern border are not doing so illegally.
Besides, you are conflating things for your own effect. I never mentioned immigrants, as immigrants are, by default, legal and have gone through proper channels. The term, for those in the slow lane, "illegal alien" was a pejorative term used to describe those who actively thwarted a countries' immigration policies. It was never intended as a nice term.
This term has given way, in recent years, to the warm and fuzzy term, migrant, even though the vast majority of "migrants" enter given countries by illegal means. My guess is that because there are so many lawbreakers that it isn't feasible to arrest them all and put them through the court system, hence give them a benign sounding name like "migrant". Sounds like a travelling work-person. Do they bring their own tools?
Something to consider: Why are these people emmigrating to the U.S?Majority Mexican, but large and increasing numbers from Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Haiti.
Yeah, no. That's been a general term for a long time now, and refers ti general human movements and especially historically isn't concerned with legalities or other issues. People where here, then they moved here. This term has given way, in recent years, to the warm and fuzzy term, migrant
Your kind up north too are illegal boarder jumpers. My apologies. I keep forgetting that the sea of people flooding across the US southern border are not doing so illegally.
I'm not sure why you, or anyone, would feel a need to explain something so bloody obvious.Yeah, no. That's been a general term for a long time now, and refers ti general human movements and especially historically isn't concerned with legalities or other issues. People where here, then they moved here.
Alrighty.Your kind up north too are illegal boarder jumpers.
Your erroneous claim of it recently coming into use.I'm not sure why you, or anyone, would feel a need to explain something so bloody obvious.
Lot's of people overlook it and don't notice because your accents aren't radically different from most of ours and your skin is mostly white, but it still happens quite a bit, to the point that's its a mixture of bias, partisan politics and racist to focus on the Southern boarder. Amd I don't see any other factors due to the extreme rarity thatthe Northern boarder jumpers are acknowledged, and theres no talks of building a wall or sending the military to N Dakota or Wisconsin.Alrighty.
That is an incorrect statement. The vast majority of southern border crossers since 2021 have come from "Northern Triangle" and other non-Mexican countries whose inhabitants never ever owned any part of the United States.I keep remembering that they're traveling across country that used to belong to them.
You should have read the article before writing a post that paints you as a racist. Now you may not be one, but when one rushes to judgment one can give a false impression in that direction.I love how illegal aliens have become migrants.
With regard to the OP, I think New York is getting a taste of its asinine policy of being a so-called "sanctuary city". Another well-thought-out policy position. *rolls eyes*
There are not too many from South America. Central America yes. South America begins at Colombia and goes south from there. Central America is part of North America. They are the countries north of Colombia and south of Mexico.I don't think the majority of them are Mexican, mostly they are coming through Mexico, but they are starting from South America.
I tried pointing it out earlier but all I got was laugh reacts. So I assume he thinks south of the boarder means illegal. If he actually wants to correct me he can at any time but until then its what I'll assume. You should have read the article before writing a post that paints you as a racist. Now you may not be one, but when one rushes to judgment one can give a false impression in that direction.
For one thing, these are not illegal aliens. They are going through the system. Illegal aliens try to avoid the system because they know that they are here illegally. These are asylum seekers and they would apparently like to be working:
'In recent weeks, he has pushed for additional assistance from both the state and federal government, calling on President Joe Biden to expedite work authorizations for migrants to alleviate pressure on the city shelter system. Back in April, Adams notably said during a press conference, “The president and the White House have failed this city.” '
Illegal aliens are here to work at jobs that pay less than is legal, but is better than the pay that they get at home. Many illegal aliens are recruited by US businesses that need more laborers. These migrants that are seeking asylum would actually become "illegal aliens" if they did take on jobs. The city wants them to have permissions to have jobs so that they can work here and not be a strain on city services.
Now, could the Biden administration have done better? Probably, but then there would be claims from people on the right of giving away "are jerbs!!".
