Is verbal bullying worse then physichal bullying?

I think verbal is worse, because pain will go away, but words will stay with you, perhaps forever.

Yes, yes, yes, yes! Bruises fade and broken bones mend...the mind takes a lifetime to heal!

I still have mental scars - the physical ones disappeared long ago.;)

Both are horrible, but it seems that 9 times out of 10 nothing is done about verbal bullying. If we could convince school systems to crack down on mean-spirited teasing, I think each would be about as bad as the other. The only reason I feel verbal is worse right now is because nothing is done about it.

Bullying is not restricted to schools, Jensa..........:(

Ack, you're right, Michel. It was rather short-sighted of me to overlook that. I wouldn't know what to do about bullying in other situations, though... I've not gotten a job yet, and school is the only place I'm familiar with it at.

As some one who was never one of the cool people throughout my younger years at school ,I would have to say being kicked and beaten while down, getting whacked on the back and arms by a board with nails sticking out of it and having my hand broken are harder to forget than any hazing I endured. I was a favorite target of bullies because I always turned the other cheek. I do , however ,realise that at a young age words can hurt too, but for me that stuff was easy to shrug off because I realised these individuals were ignorant and would fall victim to their own stupidity one day.

If , later in life, you have to deal with bullies at work they will usually back down with a few choice words. I can look back now and understand that we all have to deal with life and not be too dependent on others to defend us. I never go looking for trouble but will meet it head on if required.
