Wouldn't that depend on who one speaks to and in what light one views it? Obviously in the light of the Gospel of Jesus, it would be evil on multiple accounts. It curses instead of blessings desiring evil instead of good. It promotes promiscuity and worships Satan.
The power of curses has its base on fear. It's user can eventually be possessed by the demons that work through it. I think it is very real.
My mother in law used to be in witchcraft (same animal with a different name). She would say it is real.
It strickly has to do with 1. God 2. Spirits 3. Ancestors
There is no promiscuity. There is a lot of animal sacrifice involved and remission and cleansing as jesus does for christians by his death. Many people who practice in the south are protestant christians. My family are one of many who practice it but are christian in faith.
Satan is a christian concept. It has nothing to do with worshiping god.
There are no curses. "Magic" if one likes is specific to honor God through spirits (not demons) and ancestors (family who have passed on). They and we believe the spirits and ancestors interact with us in our prayers.
Witchcrsft is Eurepean. Vodou is West African in part, Haitian, in another part, and a mix in US South as more practices. The practices are worshiping the christian god.
Not magic. Not evil. Not witchcraft.
The Bible does speak of speaking to the dead and practice of pagans (not specifically wichcraft though thats in eureope). The point was it leads people away from god. Has nothing to do with vodou anymore than it does specifically to Hindu.
False beliefs does not mean its evil.
