I don't even have to know the details in order to be pleased at the outcome.

Indeed, sir. But those of us who know him and his bamboozling tactics, are even happier with the outcome. This guy is one of the many Moslim scholars i had the misfortune to admire during my childhood, but lost all respect for him and other Moslim scholars after I figured out just how much bull**** he has fed us and how much brainwashing he has caused. It took me years to get over his and other con-man's conditioning I received during my hellish childhood.

Check this out to see what I mean:

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I don't agree that just saying words warrants any type of legal retribution, but that said, it does bring back my thoughts of FCC rulings even back in the day. Like family hour and news hour etc.

There ought to be time slots for those kind of things though I suppose, however the advances of media now transferred into forums like YouTube etc, it is no longer a valid or even practical route in the age of the internet.

If it can be proven however that his speeches have actually cost people their lives then this ruling was perfectly justified.

I can see the damage was severe, to the point that you now spell it "Moslim".

London/New Delhi: Peace TV and Peace TV Urdu, the television channels owned by the controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, currently absconding from India, have been fined Rs 2.75 crore or £ 300,000 in the United Kingdom.

The fine has been levied by UK media watchdog, Ofcom, for broadcasting hate speech and repeatedly inciting murder through the channels.’

This is good news. Maybe he'll tone it down. Maybe not. He is oft quoted as a reputable Islamic scholar, even here on RF. I need to remember this thread, Daniel, so the next time somebody quotes hm, I can report it to the mods.

So it begins...

Zakir Naik is a swindler and a criminal who amassed some fortune by being an Islamic tele-evangelist and duping his patrons. His properties and bank accounts in India are in the custody of Courts. He was hiding from Indian law agencies in Malaysia courtesy former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad. He is banned in Bangladesh also. Now that Mahathir Mohammad is no longer the Prime Minister of Malaysia, India is making another request for Zakir Naik's extradition to face charges here. :)

Actually, Naik put his sister and associate in problems by opening accounts in their names and engaging in money laundering from there.

So you need to wait for someone to actually die before you think brainwashing people into believing magic practitioners should be put to death is a bad idea? That’s very telling.

How would you get him before a just judge to determine such a thing anyway? He is wanted for inciting terrorism in India and the Malaysian government won’t hand him over.

Not only in India. People may say that a Hindu India is trying to persecute a Muslim preacher, but Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also have banned his Peace TV..
