Not officially. This is more just the biggest attack in a couple decades or so when Hamas took over the Gaza strip.
The main difference may be more of a sense of desperation given the harsh blockades against the Palestinians. Such as, they are already short on medical supplies, not a lot of food, lack of textiles, so what do they have to lose with such an assault?

Now isn't that the dumb and dumber move of the month ? What is a US aircraft carrier going to do .. that Israel does not already have the capability to do 100 times over ? No need to fly F-35 off of a ship .. you can take off from the one of numerous runways .. each 5 minutes away from Target .. and the Israeli Pilots are way more experienced with the F35 than our lads.
Bibi's problem is not lack of firepower .. but how not to kill too many civilians ... and how not to be designated a war criminal ..
I am imagining the aircraft carrier isn't there to directly engage Hamas. But instead to send a message to other enemies in the area to not exploit the current situation as the U.S. would support Israel should things escalate.
