Donald Trump is the best thing that has happened to the democratic party since Barack Obama. The U.S. needs to get this fascist idiocy out of it's system again (it comes bubbling up every 70 years or so), and so does the republican party. And Trump will make that happen, because he's the real thing. And as much as some Americans think they want to live in some fascist Christian utopian fantasy world, the reality of it would scare the crap out of them. So the more Trump shows us all that he is the real thing (a wanna-be fascist despotic dictator), the more he will finally burst their fantasy bubble and wake them up to the very real and ugly danger that he and those like him present.
..but not me. I don't agree with military coups, for example. Some would say that every country has the government it deserves to have.
Why? Decent people don't want to see anyone killed like that.one of the two Republican gun men had done better.
Provide proof that both were Republicans. Both of them have rather all over the place political histories. The most concrete thing about the second would-be shooter's views is that he was a pro-Ukraine fanatic but I don't see the TDS cases on here mentioning that (I have some of them on ignore so I may have missed it). Hmm. He had a Biden/Harris bumper sticker, too. Let's not mention that, though.one of the two Republican gun men had done better.
If the dems will finally stop taking the corporate bribe money, and start acting for the good of the American people, The anger and frear and resentment fueling todays Trump supporters and driving a cultural wedge between us will soon fade away.Agreed, but It took six years of horribly destructive war and the destruction of their country to convince the German people that they wanted no more to do with fascism. Let's hope nothing so drastic will be required now.
I thoroughly agree that this is a wake up call for the Dems. It's partly their fault after all. They held power for so long and won so many cultural battles that they ignored the termites eating away at the structure of the "house". I think the tide will be turned now, but what to do about the millions of MAGAs that aren't about to abandon their delusions? I have no answer except that we probably need to engage with them as people, not "ignorant rednecks".
You're blaming Democrats for Trump and his idiots are doing? Do you blame rape victims for inflaming their attackers, too?If the dems will finally stop taking the corporate bribe money, and start acting for the good of the American people, The anger and frear and resentment fueling todays Trump supporters and driving a cultural wedge between us will soon fade away.
The reason most of those people are supporting Trump is because they are frightened and frustrated and angry. They see their way of life devolving into the equivalent of some third world banana republic. And unfortunately they don’t know who to blame or what to do about it so they blame everyone and the dream of some strong-man and his goon squad coming to save them. You're blaming Democrats for Trump and his idiots are doing? If I may respond to just the first sentence of your post (with which I do not entirely disagree), probably the very best defense against being "frightened and frustrated and angry" is being informed. The reason most of those people are supporting Trump is because they are frightened and frustrated and angry. They understand that their own government has sold them out; down both sides of the isle. And they are absolutely right. What they don’t seem to want to face is who their real enemies are. That is who owns all those crooked politicians on both sides of the isle. They still fantasize that Trump will either save them, or burn the whole country to the ground, and they’re ok with it either way. Because part of their fantasy is that they will rise victorious from the ashes (with all their guns and hillbilly know-how).
They sadly have no clue who their enemy really is.
But all that fear and loathing would vanish quickly if these people could see their lives and their futures and their kid’s futures being resurrected without the great orange fascist savior burning it all to the ground. And all it would take would be for the government to start acting on behalf of the people, again, instead of whatever giant corporate conglomerate or billionaire sponsored think tank paid them the latest bribe.
True, but it's also true that military coups only ever happen or can be successful where there isn't a public wanting democracy and are willing to fight for it...but not me. I don't agree with military coups, for example.
They can be orchestrated by a minority.
Oh, Fox phony news is very busy informing them. Along with a whole host of other for profit phony news sources that are working for the very people that are creating this banana republic that they fear and resent. Telling them exactly what they already think so they won't realize who their real antagonists are.If I may respond to just the first sentence of your post (with which I do not entirely disagree), probably the very best defense against being "frightened and frustrated and angry" is being informed.
They are working hard to make sure they stay angry, and resentful, and suspicious of everyone and everything. And wishing for a savior. And the fact is, Trump, Vance and their campaign are working most assiduously to ensure that that is the last thing their supporters are. An informed person is so much more difficult to fool.
Oh, I don't know .. 'divide & rule' has proved to be a successful policy throughout history.True, but it's also true that military coups only ever happen or can be successful where there isn't a public wanting democracy and are willing to fight for it.
And rightly so.Oh, I don't know .. 'divide & rule' has proved to be a successful policy throughout history.
The thing about democracy, is that people are happy with the victor if it serves their interests,
but often oppose it when they are not.
Who, indeed. They want us to keep blaming the government for it's own corruption, so we won't look at who is corrupting them, and why. And for some strange reason, we keep falling for it.Corruption comes in many forms .. usually money. Do govts. and their assemblies really have
control over policy, or are they "owned" by those who hold the purse strings?
..and who's that in today's world, do you think?
I bet the majority of North Koreans would disagree with that. Some would say that every country has the government it deserves to have.
Probably so.I bet the majority of North Koreans would disagree with that.
I agree...but not me. I don't agree with military coups, for example.
