It tastes like chicken

Balthazzar

Does it ... really?

Sometimes chicken doesn't even taste like chicken. Frozen processed chicken nuggets for example. Do they really taste like chicken?

They say these mushrooms taste like chicken, so much so that they have termed them "chicken of the woods".

Question: Which tastes most like chicken? Frozen processed chicken nuggets or the fungi termed chicken of the woods?

Inquiring minds want to know.

It looks like chicken ... sautéed and all golden brown.

BUT ... does it "really" taste like chicken?

This kind of looks like chicken. Dipped in bbq or honey mustard sauce it's even edible, but ...

Does it taste as much like chicken as chicken of the woods sautéed to a golden-brown crisp?

Honestly, I don't know.

I thought this thread was going to be about cannibalism

I'm glad it's not

One serving of chicken of the woods mushrooms typically contains about:

  • 10% protein
  • 75% carbohydrates
  • 3% fat
  • 140 calories
It also contains antioxidants like flavonoids and phenols.

I'm content to never not be determined to try these.

I don't think it tastes like chicken, though. Processed chicken nuggets don't even taste like chicken. I don't think the fungus will taste like chicken either. Long pork is on par with what you might find at the bottom of a cesspool. I've never tried it. It sounds worse than snails and worm meat.

How did we go from fungus to cannibalism?

It won't taste like chicken either way!

Stay away from the LP, man. I'll try the fungus. Even if it won't taste like chicken. It might taste like chicken, though. I dunno. I've never tried it.

Snails are pretty good.

Snail porridge
Snail soup
Snails in garlic sauce.

I've eaten worse

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

I'd eat them for sure.

You're weird. Snails and fish eggs...tasty? I'm sure they taste like something. I bet not chicken.

I may try the fungus. It's about as appealing as snails and fish eggs.

I will eat most things at least once including snake and deadly fugu. Fish eggs are nowhere near as bad as some people think, a very delicate taste. And snails, i live in France, thought my first taste of snail was in England.

Go to a sushi bar. Order ikura. That is salmon roe. Or tobiko with a quail's egg. You can tell which one is which by counting. If you get to over one hundred that is tobiko. If you only get to one, that is the quail's egg.

You've eaten it or you'd be up for eating it?

There is no way I would go anywhere near that stuff

It kills dozens of people each year!

I've eaten it. Funnily enough, it tastes like chicken
