It's not complicated.

When newcomers approach Hinduism, sometimes they think it's just so complicated. Some Hindu scholars see it that way to, and write long books full of explanations. Yes we have several major schools, various sects, and 30 or so native languages.

Other faiths are complicated too when you approach it from the idea of trying to understand it all.

Imagine trying to understand a car, and how it operates by looking at the entire package all at once.

For the average Hindu bhaktar, life is pretty simple. Why? Well, mostly because we've managed to narrow it down. We have realised we don't need to understand it all at once. I'm reminded of an old priest friend of mine, when he gave advice. A devotee would be having some kind of problem, and go and ask for some advice. The priest would say, "Go Pray Ganesha." That was it. Ridiculously simple.

My own Guru, when asked to say a few words to another Guru's congregation, would say, "Obey your Guru." ... or some simple thing.

What does knowing all this stuff do? Do we even remember it, let alone apply it?

Simple sayings ... 5 words or less ... please contribute.

Get a job.
Keep it.
Smile a lot.
Do puja.

5 words or less?......

"offer some vadas to hanuman"
ask him to demolish mental clutter in the same manner he demolished ravan's kingdom:D

it is uncomplicated, and I find that I don't have much to say in the hindu DIR

Be your own guru
Hanuman would better like almonds and milk after a hundred push-ups and two hundred sit-ups for his devotees, not that I am against vadas. :)

Young Indian wrestlers train next to a picture of Hindu monkey-god Lord Hanuman, in New Delhi, on March 4, 2013. India’s overall Olympics record may not be much to shout about but its wrestlers have won four of the country’s 13 individual medals since it gained independence from Britain in 1947.
