Can't brain. Has dumb.
In this thread you post about a new album you buy after listening through it once and give us what you think.
I'll start. Today I bought Nightwish - Dark Passion Play
I have been told to buy Nightwish, considering the rest of my playlist, and this is the first album I've bought and the first I've listened to.
In one sentence: I love it.
It's a VERY melodic metal album and one that I suspect will grow on me the more I listen to it. The female vocals are very refreshing and add a whole new dimension to the progressive metal genre. I really like how the album starts. A slow operatic beginning with lots of depth and the orchestra really brings out the mood of the album. As the song launches into the heavier part you really feel the "Dark Passion Play" come in!
I also enjoy the balance between the heavier songs and the lighter ones like "Eva", "The Islander" and "Meadows Of Heaven".
Overall I think it's a great album and I'm really glad I bought it. I think it'll be on my playlist for some while yet before I buy the next Nightwish album!
EDIT: I also was struck by the quote in the CD cover (Thinking about making it my new sig)
I am the poet of the body and I am the poet of the soul
The pleasures of heaven are with me and the pains of hell are with me
The First I graft and increase upon myself
The latter I translate into a new tongue
- Walt Whitman
