Jack Smith Asks for Gag Order on Trump in Classified Documents Case

When someone actually duct tapes a sweaty, stinky sock in his mouth?
No, he'd still have his fingers welded to his phone.
Probably gonna havs to stitch his mouth shut and totally shatter his hands if you want him to obey a gag order. And even then there's still ways. A medically induced coma may be the only way to make it so he doesn't violate them.

In an unsurprising move, Trump's lawyers are defending his right to lie about the FBI as a free political speech issue.

In a 20-page court filing, the lawyers assailed prosecutors in the office of the special counsel, Jack Smith, for seeking to limit Mr. Trump’s remarks about the F.B.I. on the eve of two consequential political events: the first presidential debate, scheduled for June 27, and the Republican National Convention, set to start on July 15.
“The motion is a naked effort to impose totalitarian censorship of core political speech, under threat of incarceration, in a clear attempt to silence President Trump’s arguments to the American people about the outrageous nature of this investigation and prosecution,” the lawyers wrote.
“President Trump and the defense are similarly unaware of any hostility, harassment or risk of harm directed at any agent involved in this case based on President Trump’s statements,” the lawyers told Judge Cannon.
Still, Mr. Trump’s attacks on the F.B.I. have had consequences in the real world in the past.
After Mr. Trump denounced the Mar-a-Lago search as a personal attack against him in 2022, an armed man in Ohio tried to shoot his way into an F.B.I. field office near Cincinnati.
The man, Ricky W. Shiffer, said at the time that “patriots” should head to Florida to defend Mr. Trump and kill F.B.I. agents. Mr. Shiffer was ultimately killed in a shootout with the local police.
In a separate incident, a Texas man was arrested on Thursday and accused of threatening to “slaughter” one of the F.B.I. agents who worked on the case that resulted in the conviction of Hunter Biden, President Biden’s son, on charges related to a gun purchase.
Hours after the guilty verdict was returned, the man, whom the authorities identified as Timothy Muller, called the agent on his cellphone and told him in a voice mail message that he had not gone far enough in prosecuting Mr. Biden. The man vowed to “hunt” the agent down and kill him and his family.

Yes the gag order request is reasonable considering Trump's prior speech about the FBI and the actions incited, but it will come down to that oh so cautious and experienced judge Cannon who will decide against prior restraint on the grounds that nothing violent has happened yet to those with proven connections to this case.

Yeah really.

Trump is a person. The fact that he is a past president is absolutely irrelevant. It must be irrelevant if there is to be justice in any form. Equal Justice Under The Law! Not one justice for a "past President" and a different justice for the people.

People have been through this many times, there is lots to compare it too.
Ok, then maybe you can show us where a bookkeeping error has resulted in 34 felony convictions in New York after the statute of limitations has passed.
Maybe after that, you can show us why more serious crimes (rapes, murders, etc.) committed by illegals are being left unprosecuted by the guy who is laser-focused on "getting Trump".

Do you think people should be allowed to threaten and intimidate jurors in their defense trial, like how the mafia used to do?
Are you referring to Robert DeNiro and the 2 Capitol Cops grandstanding outside the courthouse while the jurors were deliberating during the Trump trial again? Yes, the biden campaign sent them. Get over it. I think the liberals are tired of defending such actions.

Stupid crap like "they stole the election" which lead to Jan 6th.

And stupid crap like "they tried to assassinate me" which could lead to ....
Or stupid crap like, "Trump and his supporters are the biggest threat to democracy!"
Sure, that could never lead to anything happening.

Thank-you, so my 10 shares per month really is worth something. :)
Now if I could just get people to read them critically in stead of dismissing them as propaganda. :(
New York Times IS propaganda. Far left propaganda.

Whoop de do, an online rating of the opinion section of the NYT.

The article linked was not an opinion piece.
Part of your problem is not recognizing the difference between news and editorial commentary.

"AllSides does not rate outlets based on accuracy or factual claims — this is a bias chart, not a credibility chart. "

Bias effects credibility. If an organization is biased toward the Left and against the Right, then their reporting is going to be skewed toward one side of the political spectrum, which affects their credibility.
Anyone who dismisses Right-leaning organizations for the same reason should know better.

Try a media rating that actually provided you with information to analyze their ratings which includes both accuracy and separately bias.
Not to mention a methodology better than online poll. LOL
You will see that the NYT rates very high on its news pieces with very little bias except on pieces noted to be opinion.
combined score -7.98 left bias out of +-42 and reliability 41.98 on 0-64 scale.
Fox news, one of the better right leaning sources gets a bias rating of 11.61 and reliability only 35.23.(online version, broadcast version scores much lower, see chart) Fox primetime gets 18 for bias and not even 29 for reliability

Facts don't change with the presenter and when you learn to read for facts and beyond your bias, you will also learn to recognize editorial comment for what it is.
