Depending on where you are, and what calendar your temple or community follows, it's either today or tomorrow. One local temple is celebrating it today, another one tomorrow, on-line Vaishnava calendar services list it as tomorrow. My friend's wife is fasting today according to her calendar, I'll fast tomorrow according to the one I follow. So, whatever day you celebrate it, Jai Sri Krishna! ;)

Jai Lakshmi Maa
Jai Sri Krishna!

I'm actually going to attend my Temple's festivities tomorrow night. I'm fasting today(though not for Janmahstami) because I messed up and forgot to fast yesterday for Lakshmi Puja.

I hope everyone has fun. This will be my first time celebrating at a new temple so we'll see how it goes :D

Or not at all, depending what sect you're in. :)

Happy Janmashtami to my Hindu brothers and sisters who celebrate it.

... looks like someone didn't get their dosas crispy enough today. Nuh-uh. No siree.

My daughter is visiting from out of town, and we did plan to go for dosas, but she's gluten sensitive, and we asked. The waiter didn't seem to really know anything about gluten sensitivity, and couldn't tell us what all was in the dosa. So we went next door for a lunch buffet. Really nice restaurant.

I did learn that sometime wheat flour is used in some dosas. I previously thought it was just rice and urad dal. So you learn something every day.

But yes I am absolutely not a hugger.

Janmashtami today, but my grandsons are on holiday in Gangtok. I had promised the second one (2+) to dress him as Krishna with Pitambara, Mukut and Murli. My son is coming back today but leaves for China at 11 pm, just a little before the Lord is born. Mother will go back to my brother's place (her usual adda) in the evening. We are sort of lonely today. :(

Dahi Handi in Mumbai (Yoghurt in a pitcher - 531 private and 176 public handis this year). "As of 2011, the prize money for the events usually range between INR 1 lakh (US$1,700)–INR 12 lakh (US$20,000) depending on the organizers and sponsors." The young men who attempt it are known as Govindas. They hold the world record for the highest human pyramid at 43.79 feet (13.35 m). Maharashtrian boys and girls are good at gymnastics. Physical exercises are part of their culture. :Appreciate: Dahi Handi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
