Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

ooooohh..nice quote for a Falwell thread.

Frubals!!!

I think it's a dangerous idea that once you die nobody should talk about the evil you did.
I agree, but still I think that when we celebrate the death of another human being we are doing damage to our own humanity. I wish that this man had lived long enough to come to his senses, that he could have found some kind of peace, that he could perhaps have worked to undo some of the evil he caused during his life. This may or may not be a reasonable hope, but it I think it is a more healthy one.

I'm not angry at Falwell
Are you sure? It really seems like you are. But ok if you say so.

Really?

I raised a glass to toast his death.

He was a bane on humanity as well.

I haven't heard much from James Dobson.... it's about time for him to check out, too. Then Paige Patterson, and I'm a happy man.

We haven't heard much - if anything - from the "conservative Christian right" since Obama won in 2008. I assume that (1) folks realized that the conservative Christians were not powerful if more people actually voted (which is what I've said all along) and (2) they have been obsorbed into the Tea Party. In doing so, they have lost their voice.

Done here.

As far as anti-gay actions and propaganda go, the Catholic Church has begun to take the lead away from the Evangelicals. Even Catholic dioceses that are closing parishes for lack of funds have been giving huge donations to anti-gay organizations and political campaigns.

You just hate all the servants of God, huh?

FellFar wasn't going to come to his sences. He devoted every waking moment of his misspent adult life to the theodemocratic movement.

Anger is a natural human response, in this case to someone working diligently to remove people's basic Constitutional Rights and dismantle that document as well.

Attempting to bury such a passionate response would be unhealthy.

On the contrary, you make it sound as though you worship the man. When you accuse anyone who speaks out against him of blasphemy you make it sound as though you worship the man.

when you speak against the Lord's precious saints, it is blasphemy, yes

No, YOU yourself makes it sound liek you worshipped the man.

Who started a thread singing praises to the man?

Who continues to attempt to defend the man?

I simply said it bothered me to hear people speak evil of him. Is that so wrong? He was a Godly man and Christians everywhere love him dearly and miss him.
