Jesus Faith Fact or Fiction?

The tv show starts out with a historian who said " There is no proof that Jesus ever even lived outside the Godpels which were written many decade after Jesus lived" . Considering the fact that oodle of folks including non Christians keep saying most scholars and historians all believed Jesus lived, that along could be the subject of my thread but its not.

I have seen tons of historians saying there no proof Jesus ever lived so i don't get it but I have seen this a lot from a bunch of historians.

Anyways changing the subject the show is about the tombstone that claims to be the tombstone of Jesus' Brother James. They say experts say its not real, its forgery. But they can not prove in court weather its real or not so there's no answer for it.

sense experts say its a forgery so i am going to go out on a limb and say its forgery. If Jesus was real why do Christians continue to pull scams like this in order to prove Jesus was real?

To me it makes the whole religion look like a scam. If they would pull this maybe the scriptures were made up Pagans as a testament for the Jews. Anyways its just an opinion. Anyone have any opinions on the tombstone
of James weather its real or not?

There is a James ossuary, (box) that turned out to be a forgery. Jesus artifacts and burnt toast are collector items for believers, I guess they help drive the imagination, much like the gospels do.

There is plenty of proof Jesus existed and most historians would agree with that.

All you need is the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached to you by a believer in whom the Spirit of God dwells, and made to take root by the will of God, for you to have all the evidence you need that Jesus is both Lord and Christ.

Sorry but that is not evidence. By your standards Islam is correct, as is Hinduism, Buddhism, and just about any other religion that has true believers.

Really? The more I look at the "proof" the weaker it seems. What do you have?

A cult built around a purely fictitious figure that spread rapidly almost contemporaneously with the lifetime of such a purely fictitious figure would have absolutely no parallel in recorded history.

Also, do you really think someone would have invented such an implausible Jewish messiah then had to jump through hoops to try to fit such a square peg into a round hole?

"We're going to call him Jesus of Nazareth"
'But he needs to be from Bethlehem, why not make him from there?'
"Nope, that's stupid. We can just make up some convoluted story about a census or Herod or something to get him to Bethlehem instead. Nazareth sounds cool."
'Shouldn't we make him a descendent of King David to match prophecy?'
"Yeah, we could do that via the guy who wasn't his dad. Makes perfect sense."
"We'll also have him get crucified"
'But that means he is cursed in Judaism which isn't a good look for a messiah'
"Dooon't caaaare. If you are going to be such a negative Nancy then go invent your own messiah."

These 2 points on their own make it highly probable that he existed as an actual human, add in the other historical and circumstantial evidence and you have a very strong balance of probabilities.

And which version of Jesus do you think that you can prove?

Prove is generally impossible in this era, but on strong balance of probabilities, the human Jewish preacher chap one.

I believe there are those who would deceive but it is not something a Christian should do. I am sure there a lot of historical figures who only have writings as proof of their existence. Christians and Jews are not likely to build monuments to immortalize their prophets.

Hello. I recommend the following book (he is an atheist by the way, so he has no agenda to try and convince you otherwise):

Did Jesus Exist? (Ehrman) - Wikipedia
Atheists don't have agendas? Ehrman claims to be agnostic although he is certainly not agnostic about the historical Jesus, he claims to know without question. He claims to have never questioned or ever doubted that Jesus was real and can't understand why anyone would.
