Jesus regardless of textual possible errors, is definitely noted as

King of the Jews

This often mistakenly taught as an insult of sarcastic nature, it was written literally. That is why the Romans refused to add 'thought he was', or whatever, even though that was requested asked pleaded for, by those who betrayed Him JESUS.

What are the implications of this? How can a christian say that there is some 'jewish authority', they are going by, when Jesus Himself, is the authority?

Yet, often pastors and such, will say or infer that there is 'some other jewish' authority, concerning religious matters.
Not if they aren't Jesus believers!

The Jewish leaders at the time did not understand what Jesus was saying and they delusional about what the Savior would look or be like. Jesus said, “The Messiah does not come in a way for seen by man.”

Nowhere in the Gospels does Jesus preach he is the present or future king of the Jews. He does not enrage his enemies by calling himself the king of the Jews. He never so much as mentions to anyone that he is the king of the Jews. The charge at the trial comes almost completely out of the blue.
