Is this story from Sufi traditions part of Christian tradition as well? Is there any good website/resource available on the web which has stories (and quotations) and incidents related to Jesus Christ's life? I did a google search but the links that turned up were not satisfactory.

no, i have no memory of seeing this story anywhere, not in the Biblical Gospels or in the extra-Biblical "gospels" i've read. it may be derived from a fable or gnostic story about Jesus, but i haven't seen it anywhere before.

the best resources that i would suggest to find about the incidents of Jesus' life would be Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

there are many non bilical tales of Jesus...

this is a good book, if taken with a pinch of salt...

It ties in many none biblical Gnostic (mainly persian Gnostic, of which some would argue Islam is a member, although loosely) stories...... it includes mandaean texts that given expanded versions of the baptism of Jesus by John and other tales....

This book includes the story of How Mary mag (Mariamne) fled Judaism...to join Jesus....
and is a totally different story to that found in the bible...
