i remember reading in the bible a chapter about jesus talking with some of the older prophets. this chapter describes jesus going up on a mount talking with spirits of moses and eliah/elijah/elias (not sure which name) these spirits are in a cloud on the mount.

does anybody here know which chapter this is and do you know the meaning of this scripture.

i am sure it is in one of the gospels.

Here it is in the ESV translation: It is in Matthew. :) I am not too sure of the meaning, though.

Mat 17:1 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
Mat 17:2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.
Mat 17:3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.
Mat 17:4 And Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah."
Mat 17:5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him."
Mat 17:6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified.
Mat 17:7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and have no fear."
Mat 17:8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
Mat 17:9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, "Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead."

Yeah Matt 17:3

This was a vision that Peter and them had it wasnt something that literally happened.

Mat 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead

Jesus, Moses, and Elijah represents-- the new covenant (grace), old covenant (law), and (i cnat remember Elijahs-- i think the prophets (apostles))

Friend ellion,

I believe along the lines of Master Vigil. I think that this pasage was written to show the "rank" of Christ. Moses and Elijah were two of the most prominent prophets to come from God, and Christ is seen "above" them.

This, I believe, is to show that jesus is the Son of God, not just a prophet but a being of divinity sent from God himself.

With love and respect,
