Jewish Chronicle: 'To All Our Fellow British Citizens'

The Jewish Chronicle has recently published this with regard to Jeremy Corbyn (Leader of the Opposition) and it's not a happy, if short, read.

'Perhaps the fact that nearly half (47 per cent) of the Jewish community said in that same poll that they would “seriously consider” emigrating if Mr Corbyn wins on December 12 will give you an indication of what it feels like to be a British Jew at a time when the official opposition is led by a man widely held to be an antisemite.'

'Throughout his career, he has allied with and supported antisemites such as Paul Eisen, Stephen Sizer and Raed Salah. He has described organisations like Hamas, whose founding charter commits it to the extermination of every Jew on the planet, as his “friends”.'

That's pretty staggering imo. I used to vote Labour but not anymore. Fellow Brits & Jews, comments?

I haven't seen anything to suggest that Corbyn or any of the Labour leadership are antisemites. It all looks like desperate smears.

Not a Jew or a Brit, but I do wonder if he absolutely is an antisemite and if these are political associations which imply that he truly is. Is the Jewish Chronicle well known, long established and reputable; and what did the poll say about the other 53%? Are they stunningly at odds and in favor of this punk haired man?

Anti-Semitism is not new here in the UK, as are most forms of racism. That is one of the main reasons I emigrated to Israel in the 1960s(now back in the Uk most of the time because I miss the weather and chip butties).

I experienced anti-Semitism when I was at college. I had my life threatened, I was chairman of the Jewish society. It was by the leader of the the UN society who was severely left wing. He actually pulled a gun on me.

According to several students I have spoken to, it is still in the Universities, as it was in my time and elsewhere. It is not widely reported mainly because it is not news and the Jewish population is smaller now and not really important. The Jewish vote doesn't amount to much.

On a recent visit to London, I was told that many Jews are leaving the UK to other places because they genuinely fear Corbyn becoming PM.
i am generally apolitical, so don't really know about all the accusations. shenanigans that go on there, but am fairly certain what has scared some Jews is Corbyns friends. Also, the Jewish wing of the labour party, which up to now has been severely weakened which really surprises me. They have been really strong Labourites.

I personally don't give much credence to polls or newspapers; talking to people on the ground is much more informative.

The people that p*ss me off the most are some of the Jewish left because they just use the fact that they are (technically) Jews but really have no affinity for their Jewishness or religion in general. I include many of the people I grew up with who have become 'personalities' on the word stage.

What concerns me is the sense that Labour are not dealing effectively with this issue. But is this anti-semitism a relatively recent development, related to Labour's lurch to the left, or has it always been there?
Was it a significant problem in the Tony Blair "New Labour" days, for example? And what about before that?

I’m neither British nor Jewish. But I think the principle of social justice is too important to vote right wing just because the reins of the British Labor party have been usurped by those keen on bottom licking terrorist factions.

What should happen is that the defectors should put their heads together and form a new party. They could call it something along the lines of the British Workers Party.

They could then distinguish it from the labor party by making it clear in their policies that they do not support terrorist organisations.

Never know it might win a few votes

Blair may well have started it with the policies that he introduced.
