Jewish pubic hair

Men shaving armpit and pubic hair – Shulchanaruchharav.com

I recently found a thread on the internet that mentioned pubic hair, and wondered if the Jews also had weird rules or was it something Islam made up first. I found that it does have a basis in truth. Some Jewish Rabbis have made a ruling on pubic hair. In the past people would get Rabbinic lashes for trimming their own pubic hair.

In my opinion. :innocent:

Lol Wiz. Even I have to admire your trolling effort here. Guaranteed I would probably have done the same.

In some instances male body shaving seems to be prohibited as it violates the mitsvah against men and women wearing each other's clothes etc as women 'traditionally' shave these certain areas such as legs and arms. Others have said it's O.K. now because it has become a male custom, especially though sports like cycling, swimming etc.

did you have a question or did you put this in a debate forum simply because you found it fascinating?

Was my above response right or completely off base and should I do something about it? I read it on Yeshiva.co.

Yeah my question is at what point does religion cross a line of personal space?

It is in the debate section, as we're all debating each others rules on pubic hair, and since Jewish ideas helped propagate Islamic ideas, wondering which religion started it.

In my opinion. :innocent:

Judaism is more than just a "religion" which might be defined as "a particular system of faith and worship". It is a way of life and its dictates intersect with a large number of areas of living that one might think of as outside a simple religion's sphere of influence. There is no moment at which one is outside of Judaism, so I'm not sure that Judaism (in its strictest presentation) would see that such a line exists.
