Let's say that the ancestors of the Jews were Mesopotamians.

We generally count Abraham's inception of Judaism to be upon his leaving his father's home in Ur.

Well the root would be from modern day Iraq. So, Abraham's decedents are Iraqi.

In the same way that every human being is African.

Right, exactly. Thank you.

Citizenship in a given place doesn't always even permanently attach to a given individual in their own lifetime, let alone transmit to all their descendants, both bloodline and adopted, forever.

Abraham was from Ur.

Ur, Iraq

So what? :slap:

Does that have anything at all with the Ethnogenesis of Israel?
No it does not, not anything even remotely.

You do know that Abraham has no historicity at all! according to modern scholarships.

Abraham - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to archeologist William Dever, by the last quarter of the 20th century, "respectable archaeologists [had] given up hope of recovering any context that would make Abraham, Isaac or Jacob credible 'historical figures'".[9]

The patriarchal stories most likely had a substantial oral prehistory: the Oxford History of the Biblical World notes that the purpose of oral tradition is not to record history but to pass on cultural values from one generation to the next: historical facts quickly become garbled, events and characters are invented to serve aims, and variant versions develop beside each other.[10] At some stage in Israel's history these oral traditions became part of the written tradition of the Pentateuch, the series of five books which tells of the origins of the world and the people of Israel: a majority of scholars believes this stage goes back to the Persian period, roughly 520–320 BCE.[11]

How, exactly, would one find a record of Abraham outside the Bible? Though he led a good life, he didn't work miracles or anything.

You wont, if he never existed as stated. If he was a literary creation he never existed in real life.

Go to the wiki link I posted and read the whole thing regarding historicity.

When will you ever start a thread?

If I think I have a question I can find answers too here, ill post it.

99% of the time I know who will post what to each answer.

Legion is tops all round.

Jay has the knowledge but doesn't share it.

Levite I highly praise.

And though I disagree Fallingblood has quite the knowledge.

Most of the staff here has a very well rounded amount of knowledge.

Which brings us to you. What was your motive with this post?

Being a member allows me to post. As for answering my question about you making a thread, your answer is the same way you answer people in FRDB. No answer to the question just ramblings.

Abraham might be from the Iraqi region, but Jewish people are descendants of Jacob who lived in the desert of what is now Palestine/Israel areas.

Actually more accurate would be to say that it is like saying that the Romans were descendants of the Trojans through Aeneas. It's folklore people. Who knows, there could have been historical migrations from Mesopotamia to the Levant, but constructing that ancient migratory picture would leave little room for the story of Abraham.
