Joel Webbon’s Christian Nation Will Be ‘Distinctly Protestant’

No room for Catholics if Christian Nationalist get their way.

“That’s what gets you not just a pan-Christian but a pan-Protestant project that’s distinctly Protestant,” Webbon said. “[It] says to the Catholic, ‘Hey, you’re welcome to be a part of this, but this is Protestant and and we’re not going to abandon the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So, this is what we’re doing. You’re welcome to participate, but we’re going in this direction and you can be on in the car, but you don’t get to drive. The Protestants are driving.'”

In 2023, Webbon was among the contributors to a document called “The Statement on Christian Nationalism and the Gospel.” Drafted by Christian nationalists like Oklahoma state Sen. Dusty Deevers, former Trump administration official William Wolfe, and others, the document declared that the United States must formally “acknowledge the Lordship of Christ” in all its laws, “abolish abortion,” outlaw marriage equality, and “recapture our national sovereignty from godless, global entities who present a grave threat to civilization.”

Im not quite understanding the labeling of people as nationalists. What makes a person a nationalist? Wanting to have a nation instead of global government?

You asked what a nationalist is. The thread is about Christian Nationalism, so I posted the Wiki link so you could learn what it is.
I asked what makes a person a nationalist. There is no answer to it that on the page, you linked, but on the page for just Nationalism it says someone who
"tends to promote the interests of a particular nation, especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining its sovereignty (self governance)..."
What person in their right mind wouldn't promote the interests of the nation they live in or want to be self governed?

Christian Nationalism is a different creature.

Hey maybe we'll be like Ireland and then there will be new news to watch on the telly.

well the link you posted said "Christian nationalists in the United States advocate "a fusion of identitarian Christian identity and cultural conservatism with American civic belonging." -this is complete gobbledygook. What would be an example of a "Christian Nationalist" doing this in real life.

The following examples you requested are bolded.

From a former Christian nationalist, Brad Onishi:

Christian nationalism is an ideology that is based around the idea that this is a Christian nation, that this was founded as a Christian nation, and, therefore, it should be a Christian nation today and should be so in the future.
According to survey data, Christian nationalists agree with statements like the federal government should declare the United States of America a Christian nation. Our laws should be based on Christian values. being a Christian is important if you want to be a real American.

He mentions New Apostolic Reformation:

Well, the New Apostolic Reformation is notable for a number of reasons.
One, it's built around the idea that Christians are called to a new transformation or reformation of the United States. These are Christians who want to revolutionize the way that our country looks, and to make it great again in terms of being a Christian nation.
They also are deeply invested in the notion of spiritual warfare, the idea that we are called as Christians to fight a cosmic battle between good and evil, and that it's our duty to be boots on the ground for God in that conflict. What this has led to some decades later is, the New Apostolic Reformation leaders, the apostles and the prophets that are really at the head of this movement were some of the earliest to support Donald Trump in 2016.
And they have remained steadfast in that support. They were at the very avant-garde of trying to get the 2020 election overturned in the wake of Joe Biden's victory and mobilizing folks to be at January 6. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of New Apostolic Reformation Christians at January 6, as an example.
