Joy

Something that comes from within, though I can't pinpoint it...

Its there sometimes, and gone others. During those points, everything brings joy... the cat accidentally drags a poop out of the box, and its funny during those times. When its not there, the same situation is annoying.

Things that keep me in that state are being frequent in communication with my Gods, reflection on gratitude, immersion in nature(even if weather only permits I experience it through the window), and access to decent people.

Things that wear it away are illnesses of children or pets, angry people, and lack of reverence.

"Life is meant to be lived - joyously."
What brings you joy? (assuming you have joy in your life)
My cat.

"Be strong", I whispered to my coffee.

My husband would be dead now if he hadn't of had an op 5 years ago, the fact that he is still here brings me joy.

Having 3 good children and watching them grow beings me joy

The crazy antics of 5 cats brings me joy.

Walking through the forest and seeing the wildlife in it's natural environment brings me joy.

It brought me emense joy for a few moments, doubtful it will happen again, driving a Pagani Zonda R around the nurburgring.

There are many more things that bring me joy, but...

Today, it's been good food, hot cups of tea, and saying hello to tree friends.

Also, now cat pictures. I'm a sucker for cute cat pictures.
I'm curious about your tree friends. Do you mean trees, or friends who 'inhabit' trees, although I suppose that could be both.

You have a lot more than me to be joyous about but hey, who's counting...?
I am glad you have all of that.

Learning a song, playing and singing it with no flubs. It makes me happy that I can do something right. I have been going through a phase described by lyrics in a song I play:

Let it take the joy you love, turn it to despair
You know you know better, you just don't care

But when the despair turns back to joy, it feels good. :)

I mean literal trees. I'm doing the Ovate Grade studies with the Druid order I'm a member of, and much focus is on our tree friends. It's been a good excuse to get back to my roots (excuse the botanical reference).

Are some species friendlier than others? (I'm a lover of trees, just so you know. My landscaping hobby puts me around them some.)

My personal journey with this is ongoing - what I generally notice is that most nature spirits on the whole are generally welcoming to a two-leg paying attention to them as a person. Or at least that is the vibe I get. In rare cases I don't - I had this some with the ash trees at first, probably because they are all dying. It is sad, and a big part of what inspired me to celebrate the joy of trees this year. All the big trees out front in my home were ash. They are gone now. I spent time getting to know them one-on-one a bit before they died and had a legit mourning experience with them. They reminded me of how the things that bring us the most beauty and joy are often the simple things we take for granted... then deeply miss once absent.

I'm sure my neighbors thought I was weird, leaving offerings of incense on their cut stumps in memorial though... haha.
