Second, we have evidence of the Hebrews from Egyptian records dating back to either 3,000 BCE or 2,000 BCE. Either way, it's much older than the 200 B.C.E. that was being claimed.
Actually these dates are incorrect.

The only and earliest mention of Israel in Egypt is found in the Merneptah Stele. Merneptah being the (4th) king in the 19th dynasty (reign 1213-1203 BCE). It states that Egypt has "...wiped out Israel..." when Merneptah was campaigning in Canaan. No other detail other than to say "...its seed is no more."

I could not find any mention of Hebrew(s) in Egypt.

I doubt very much that Hebrews existed in 2000 BCE, let alone 3000 BCE. Where do you get these dates.

The Semitic root a-l-h (and suggested proto-form a-l) has no specific polytheistic connotations whatsoever. It simply means in it's simplest form "a deity" or "an entity that is worshipped". You've applied cultural baggage to the root, where it simply doesn't belong. ie. Because X culture used a word based on a-l-h and they were polytheistic, therefore a-l-h denotes polytheism.
No it doesn't. It means "above" or "the", it doesn't mean "a deity", that's a late definition.
It originally referred to a single deity, "El", the ultimate god, the one above all, hence the meaning of his name being "above".

greek stuff came later than jewish stuff...as has been pointed out...

the OP is laughable at best
No it didn't. Minoan cults are way older than ANY Jewish book or temple. You people are literally uninitiated and regurgitating stuff you've heard your priests (or worse, Wikipedia) say. Jews claim they have the oldest religion in the world, when their religion is derived from Phoenicians, Akkadians, Egyptians, Babylonians, Amorites, Canaanites, AND Greeks (especially the Pre-Greek civilizations). They are a relatively modern religion, especially the revised monotheistic version of Ezra and post-Exilic prophets.

To think "Judaism" - with which "Yahwism" is meant - is older than Greek mythology is truly idiotic, and you should feel ashamed of your ignorance of this subject.

I guess in your arrogant rush to trumpet your superiority over another forum member and to belittle his learning and intelligence you overlooked the fact that you were responding to someone who has not been on this board for almost 14 years.

I didn't know whether to
  • award your post the "Haha" frubal,
  • award your post the "Winner" frubal,
  • or simply acknowledge the interchange between two members with instructive usernames.

Proto- Indo-Europeans came after the Semitic civilizations...
that is, it's the Phoenicians who taught Greeks the notion of alphabet. And probably other myths and legends.
So it's the other way around.
