My wife was born and grew up in East LA of Scots Irish ancestry that came from Oklahoma during the dust-bowl but you don't know what Springsteen's song was about let alone what Cheech is singing about.I'm sure that isn't my point. We live in a dangerous world. This is my point, specifically.
Bruce Springsteen's 1984 song "Born in the U.S.A." is a protest song that addresses the mistreatment of Vietnam veterans and the economic hardships they faced after returning home. The song's lyrics and subject matter are clear, but the song's upbeat chorus and Springsteen's proud delivery can make it seem like an uncomplicated celebration of patriotism.
I suggest you quit digging before you start insulting my WWII German refugee mother and my brother's Vietnamese refugee wife let alone his children. China isn't that far away from where you are now.
Just saying.
