They do that here all the time. In fact, in one case, a drunk driving cop ran over a woman walking home. When they finally got the cop to the hospital his blood alcohol level was almost non-existent. Bare on mine, his accident was at 11:30 at night and they tested his BAL at 7:30 the next morning.A few months ago troopers here in Indiana had a huge debacle after a drunk cop killed a man on a motorcycle. Cops(same dept as the driver) "accidentally" took him to a medical center where for some reason or another his Blood alcohol content taken there couldn't actually be used in a legal charge against him. City went bonkers though and thousands of motorcyclists protested so they eventually had to do something.
From the experiences I've had I'm skeptical of all police officers. There are some I know that I think are awesome though.
