When you are in your early teens, you feel that people are either young or old..

You almost don't feel that the young will get old, and the old will get older..and they will eventually die..

You feel that the future is very far away…you don't need to care for it..

And then gradually you realize that years are moving fast…

And you start to realize that your plans need ages to be implemented…and that human life is just too short…

Yes the older you get the faster it go's as well :)

Baha'u'llah has informed us that God/Allah has said; "He, verily, hath willed for you that which is yet beyond your knowledge, but which shall be known to you when, after this fleeting life, your souls soar heavenwards and the trappings of your earthly joys are folded up. (Bahá’u’lláh, The Kitáb-i-Aqdas, p. 55)

Then how must we live our life, this has been offered; "Live then the days of thy life, that are less than a fleeting moment, with thy mind stainless, thy heart unsullied, thy thoughts pure, and thy nature sanctified, so that, free and content, thou mayest put away this mortal frame, and repair unto the mystic paradise and abide in the eternal kingdom for evermore. (Bahá’u’lláh, The Persian Hidden Words, 44)

Be well and happy and may our paths cross on this earthly plain.

Regards Tony

It all depends on your experiences in Life. If the positive outweigh the negative, you feel life is to short. If the negative outweigh the positive you feel life is to long. Me I'm leaning negative so I don't want an extended life but I'm not looking to die.

Once you hit 40, you realise time is not on your side. This was the age of a couple of Prophets that come to mind.

“And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful & kind to his parents. His mother bears him with hardship. And she brings him forth with hardship, and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months, till when he attains full strength and reaches forty years, he says: My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You, and make my off-spring good. Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims.” Qur'an 46:15

So true. I'm only 36 and going through my quarter life crisis. I found out that life is short when my grandmother passed away in 2014. Now my father is sick with liver disease at 60 and almost at the last stage of it. He's walking around now, etc but. It does change your perspective on things and how you handle and make goals for the future compared to when you did when in high school or college.

I live in a senior/disability apartment complex and one of our residence just passed away. The funeral is this Saturday. My friend's father passed away after a heart attack he had a couple of months earlier. Her two friends passed away beforehand.

My other grandmother passed away and my mother (and aunt and I) feels she talks to us all the time. Probably more to than then she does me. Anyway, yeah, life is short.

Maybe another way to see it is life is a cycle. This life is short but our spirit-ua life goes round and round just as the earth changes and the universe. They all shift. The earth won't be here forever; so, it's all in perspective.

Not a problem for Hindus, as we just get new bodies, until the need is no longer. It's a problem for the 'only one life' idea for sure.

no matter how well planned and played .....life is too short

I suspect the lame will run to it (the finish)
the blind will see into it
the poor will have their fulfillment

If you think of this life as prep for the next
then yes.....it is too short

Sometimes I think life is too short, although I didn't think that when I was in my teens. All I was thinking was how long it takes before one is actually free to make one's own choices. It's like the first 20 years of our lives are not even our own.

Life is very short by design, whether you die in childhood or your nineties. However, it is never too late to chase a dream or simply enjoy a day. This is the true beauty of life. After raising our family and working our business for over thirty years, my wife and I were in our first rock/blues band in our sixties. The band broke up after Thanksgiving, but she and I went out on our own and we have played gigs and have gigs booked ( we are also attracting other musicians that want to set up another band around us). The reason I bring this up is to illustrate my point about never being to late. If we never play another note in public in won't matter because life has been so sweet for us for just trying to live the dream.
Never give up because in this short life you don't want to lie on your death bed wondering "what if".

I guess people think about what a strange thing time is whenever death is at the doorstep.

About a month ago, I went outside to get the mail and this poor baby bird had fallen in front of the door and was dead. It was so young I couldn't even tell what bird it was; there are quite a few birds that take advantage of our house as a nesting spot. I buried it in the back yard and as I was doing so I thought to myself "wow, life doesn't give us much time, does it?". I used to think life was too long, as a child and in my early teens. At least the bird's body will feed the tree for a while now. It's better than cooking on the pavement.

Enjoy life while you can, and give some respect to the dead. We don't know what's waiting for us afterwards.

Yeah, tough darts for that crew, eh. For those of us who have been around a few billion times, life is quite a bit more complicated but less worrisome. OMG... existential crisis alert. We gonna die! *giggles* (Um, this is news?)

Your post reminds me of a wonderful old guy I met awhile back. He went skydiving, for the first time, to mark his 94th birthday. He plans to do it again for his 100th. Now at 96 he still has a girlfriend! Charming and fascinating old geezer. Sharp as a tack too.

When he was 96 someone asked George Burns when sex stopped for him. "About 2 o'clock this morning," he said.

I might have to add this song to my set list, lol.

I don't think life is short. I'm simply waiting for the day I get to go the next life and spend eternity in a blissful paradise because I picked the right god.

It is human nature. Most teens feel immortal. It is mostly when we reach 50 and realize that we are (at least) half way through and we've seen some of our contemporaries die, that we realize how short life is. As Mr. Shaw said, "youth is wasted on the young".
