Justin Bieber doesn't like Gays

Fresh from winning a Brit award, teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber has suggested that homosexuality is a choice and that abortion is wrong even when pregnancy is caused by rape.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he appeared to label homosexuality as a choice rather than something that is uncontrollable.
He also spoke out against abortion even when pregnancy is caused by rape, saying “everything happens for a reason.”

So what do you make of this? Should parents let their children be influenced by someone like this?

Young fellas need to experiment with thinking.
Mistakes will be made. Things will be learnt.
I wouldn't worry about him.

Revoltingist what worries me more, Bieber aside, is that the movie industry has a knack for choosing teens with conservative Christian leanings to be the role models of our children

Children won't really be influenced by this. Really, there is very little reason to worry. Especially since Justin Bieber himself is yet a child.

When teenage girls think of Justin, they don't care about his political views or ethical views. They care about him being "gorgeous" or how wonderful his music is. Really, there is nothing to worry about here.

Falling Blood, children imitate behaviour. If they see one of their role models hating gays, they'll imitate it.

I'll bet there are other role models too.
But Xtians outnumber heathens, so what else would you expect?

Bieber is not a threat. He's a manufactured star whose music sucks.

I'm sure young folks watch movies that feature actors with all manner of wacko views and habits.

First, you haven't shown that he hates gays. He said that they chose to be gay. That does not equal hating gays. Yes, he is ignorant; however, kids don't care.

The vast majority of children don't read Rolling Stones magazine. They don't care about his view points. Do you think they really spend that much time trying to learn all of his views on everything? Not at all. In my wife's family, she has two cousins, and a sister in love with Bieber. They don't care at all about his actual beliefs. They just love him because they think he is so cute. That really is what it boils down to.

And really, it isn't a threat. Great, he has an ignorant view point. However, teens have many more models. Look at all of the teens who look up to Eminem. Do you think they all will become gun toting rappers? No.

The vast majority of role models are not conservative Christians. The few you mentioned are from children's networks that attract preteens and younger for the most part. And again, they don't read Rolling Stones. They don't care about the beliefs of these individuals. When they get older, they find different role models. And usually then people scream about how bad the role models are because of their drug problems.

Yeah sure the majority of kids don't care falling blood, that's why they bully their gay peers to the extent that gay teens are the highest suicide statistic among teens

Oh she sure made her view on homosexuals clear and millions of children look up to her
Having a sister-in-law who looks up to her, I can tell you that even with as much as she talks about her, this subject has never come up. You have to look at the demographics. Who are her primary fans? Preteens and younger. Maybe a few younger teens, but that really does change. And those people who look up to her don't care about her beliefs. They are interested in her music, and her acting, and not much else.

Having people think being gay is a choice is part of what contributes to the prejudice

And that's because of Justin Bieber? Are you really trying to argue that Justin Bieber is responsible for those actions? Especially when those actions have been around longer than Justin Bieber has been alive?

The problem is not people like Justin Bieber. The problem is parents who have a negative look at homosexuals who teach that outlook to their children. And really, we are seeing more and more people accept homosexuals. Yes, it is slow, but it is coming along.

Yes, but still, you saying that Bieber doesn't like gays, or hate gays is over exaggerating. His comment was ignorant. However, one can not blow it out of proportion, because that causes the same ignorance.
