Keanu Reeves to Star in New Jekyll and Hyde

That's so disappointing. I love the story and I love R. L. Stevenson. Why do they have to go and screw it up like that? I'd actually want to see it if he wasn't in it.

On a brighter note, they say that Guillermo Del Toro is also working on his own version which keeps much closer to the original story. I didn't like Pan's Labyrinth, but I can see him doing a great job with this story. Unfortunately that has to wait until he's done with The Hobbit, which they say will probably be another 5 years!

these days i'm happy i don't watch any movie in the cinema, paying for movies only allows them to make more bad movie's, if they realy did a good job il support them by buying a ticket, but lately the qaulity of the movies has been poor to none existent

I truly have never understood what some people's problem with Keanu Reeves is.

Besides not being able to act?

Admittedly, he can pull of looking stern, unsurprised, and serious, as he is required to do in movies like The Matrix (which I loved) and The Day the Earth Stood Still (which was ****, but I can't fault Keanu Reaves' acting for how rubbish the movie was), but ask him to do anything outside of this, and can't pull it off at all.

I don't know why Jack Nicholas didn't get this role, myself. Nicholas can do serious and crazy equally well, and would have been perfect.

Look up "Jeckyl", the 6 part TV series, instead of watching this new movie - it's WAY more interesting :D

 Really? It's his complete inability to act. He does well in some roles, but it's only those which don't involve real acting, like The Matrix, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (and Bogus Journey) and Point Break. He's fine for those roles. I just don't understand people wanting him for parts like this where he will actually have to act.

Devil's Advocate is a good example. That movie could have been great with a better actor in his part. I still enjoy watching it, but he definitely lessens the experience.

hehe, I think you meant Jack Nicholson. Although, seeing Jack Nicklaus in the role would definitely be interesting, too. :p

I guess when I think of Keanu Reeves movies such as The Lakehouse and Speed come to mind. Especially The Lakehouse. I loved that movie. I'm not saying he's the best actor out there, but I just don't think he's really all as bad as some make him out to be.

Plus the fact that he looks soooo good, who cares if he can act or not all it takes is some imagination for the person looking at him.....

I thought he was excellent in A Scanner Darkly, but then we was playing a mind-f*cked stoner.
Otherwise he is wooden, and that's being kind, his portrayal of Jonathan Harker in Dracula was atrocious IMO, which was made all the more obvious opposite the excellent Gary Oldman as the count.

He's fine in any scene where he just has to look blank, like most of the Martix Trilogy, but when he tries to show emotion it seems so forced it makes me cringe.

You can see my knowledge of actors is quite mediocre.

But then again, even a golfer, with no thespian experience whatsoever, would be better than Can't-Act Reeves.

I disagree. Reeves didn't manage to pull off being an teenage stoner or a undercover police officer trying to be a surfer.

Really? That's as shocking to me as someone thinking he's not all that bad. I could go either way with Point Break, but all he was was himself in Bill and Ted. I mean, he is Ted. If there was ever a role suited for him, that was it.

It's been a while since I watched it, and it really was not that memorable a movie. I'll have to watch it again to see if I recall correctly.
