In this thread, post your favorite cover performed by kids.

This one is by far and away my favorite.

I have often been puzzled by the interest in and reaction to these videos of kids playing or mimicking adults. What is it that adults find so fascinating about this phenomenon?

I have also found it interesting that kids can be so incredibly proficient at mimicking adult behavior when they're encouraged and enabled to do so. I know that kid's brains are designed to learn, and so are better at it than adult brains, but still, it's a little 'spooky' to see some of the more extraordinary examples of it.

Music education.

As musician and a father of a musician, it gave me great pride to see my daughter's talent and her ability to perform beautifully. It brings tears to my eyes to see such talent not only in my own daughter, but other children.

It has little to do with "playing or mimicking adults." Watch the first video. Pay attention to the joy in the children's faces as they perform, especially in those of the lead singer, the bassist, and the drummer. For them, it's not about "playing or mimicking adults." It's about making beautiful music and the joy it brings.

You clearly are not a musician or a parent of one, or you would understand this "phenomenon".

They are happy to please their adults. Their brains are wired that way. Even creativity has to be taught in the sense that it has to be recognized, and approved, and encouraged for it to flourish. And then it has to be contextualized, and critiqued to be improved upon.

I have nothing against teaching kids these things. It's our job. But I think we too often treat them the way we treat our pets, in our minds; we project our own thoughts and emotions onto them. And they respond accordingly because that's what they're 'wired' to do.

Ever played a musical instrument as part of a group as a kid?

It's no different than adults doing covers, except the talent of whipper snappers can be amazing.

not "my favorite", but this popped up on YT, and I thought it fit in well here. The bass player, imo, has star quality.
