Kind of depressed

If you can afford it start an official meetup page. This is a web site where you pay to advertise your club. Usually its for forming groups. Suppose you want to find people who like to play cards or people who like to motorcycle read books or knit. That's what its for. It provides a forum as well as event announcements. For example if you want to see who wants to meet at Schlotsky's for a sandwhich followed by a movie on Saturday at 6pm you can simply put that up in your events, so people can RSVP. A lot of people get a group going and then ask for dues at meetings to cover the price of the meetup page.
That's a great idea. I have thought about that. I belong to some groups on it. I may just do that. Thanks!

One great way to meet people with similar interests and values is to get involved in volunteer work.

Depending on the venue you're apt to meet some people who have qualities that I think you might resonate with: introverted and empathetic, reliable, considerate, patient, upbeat, and positive, . . .

People I would describe as quietly spiritual.
I should. Right now I volunteer at the library once a week. It's pretty solitary, so I may also find a more social way to volunteer.

I have not generally been a depressed person, but lately there are a couple of issues that are really making me down. One is my continuing search for a spirituality, especially one where I can find like-minded people. The other is that, while I have many acquaintances, I have few friends where I live. Everyone seems so cliquey, or all they want to do is drink and eat in loud venues. These are older ladies and they are still into loud music, etc. I am a friendly and positive person but insecure, so maybe people sense that. Also, I am politically a centrist and am not interested in mainstream Christianity, as I believe in reincarnation and Jesus as a role model, not a god. Any suggestions?
I remember when I was searching and trying to find what was right for me spiritually and struggling through disappointing, depressing times. I finally got to the point where I think was ready to let God show me. I just wanted His wisdom, truth and direction. I had already tried so many spiritual paths and groups according to my own ideas which turned out to be unfulfilling and big mistakes. I’m thankful I reached that point and have never regretted trusting Him over thirty years ago and finding love, peace and freedom which has endured through the years with Him especially and also in community with others.
May you find what you are looking for.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36

If you live in a big city move to the country. Maybe somewhere with mountains. The Appalachian mountains that run on the eastern seaboard.

Right now we have a reason for where we live. We just moved here 2.5 years ago. I am definitely not opposed to moving when we end this specific chapter of our lives. I love the country.

Belief in reincarnation, love of health, nature and reading, not strongly connected to a religion, and you work in a library.
You may be a witch. When you're at the library, monitor the esoteric section and see who's picking books from there. Start a conversation. You may find your coven.

This description sounds like a mini me. I've learned to appreciate the people in my life as they are and without expectation of "close friendship." I've accepted the days of "fitting in" are over if I want to hold on to the peace and calm of accepting who "I" am.

Just a few days ago a retired professor, so very smart, who has been the leader of a weekly creative writing group I've belonged to for 8 years, so has had intimate insights into my head, referred to me as a Hummanist. I ALWAYS introduce my religious affiliation as Christian Heretic or Omnist, and gave explained for both within this group many, many times. People just can't accept what's not in their wheelhouse. Sooooo, that's on them.

I do find happiness in little interactions with strangers and in my volunteer work. I start a new ESL class Monday. This time with Haitians! I guess I need to start Duolingo in French along with my 347 day run in Spanish. LOL
