Laptop problems

I think heat is usually the culprit in such cases. The surface you have it sitting on along with dust that may have accumulated within the unit can contribute to overheating.

Anyways guys my husband will be getting me a new laptop next year. Idk when though.
To be fair, doing what one poster said, of vacuuming out the areas of the computer you can access or use a couple of tins of compressed air (do it outside!!!) and blow the dust out is pretty good advice. Just make sure the computer is off and don't use something like a shop-vac, LOL. That's a little too powerful for the job. A small under-powered household vacuum should be fine. Also try to make sure you are not building up a static charge.... computers don't really like that too much. Touch something metal that is grounded prior to trying this and all should go well. If you are in an area of high humidity, like me (Pacific Northwest), static charge shouldn't be an issue. Good luck.

It is just next to 'demonic possession', as you said.:)
Hehe. I actually had a computer brought to me called "Klyde" that was utterly bizarre.. I was given it for an indefinite amount of time as a science experiment and actually managed to get McAfee interested in the problem. I didn't know it at the time, but what I had in my possession (pun intended) was a computer infected with a polymorphic virus. This was a number of years ago now and at the time it was "on the edge". McAffee was actually very helpful and corresponded with me over a period of about a month on my crisis. :) (True story!)

I chronicled my story on Islam.com many years ago where it landed with a resounding thud. :)

Use a wire baking tray if you have one. I did that for an overheating laptop and it lasted several years until the processors were fried.
An inexpensive and good idea... albeit a tad clunky... It could work quite well though.

Another idea is to affix .... how to call them... little thingies that are under a chair leg... little adhesives that stop the wood from marking the floor.
These things

Put 1 on each corner of the laptop....
My lawyers just emailed me to say that these should be affixed to the botton of the notebook and not blocking any vents or whatnot.... yadda yadda yadd legal bullshyt.... yadda yadda yadda

Maybe can use some temp monitoring software to see if it's heating issue, or ask computer technician to do a check for any problem or maintenace to clean the dust which gather inside the laptop. Using a laptop cooler can also help lower the temp.

That is a good idea because it would rule out the heating issue rather rapidly or verify that that was the real problem.... I'm still leaning towards demonic possession, myself.

It could be only caused by heat, but not a heat problem in the computer itself. Ventilation opening on laptops are annoying and sometimes hard to please. Use it on level surfaces, no soft bumpy ones, so no bumps can hold the air from coming out.

By the way, cool computer people (like myself haha) always keep a high pressure air compressor at hand to blow dust (don't confuse that with s hair drier or it's curtains for the computer). The problem could be dust covering the fins of the CPU's and/or GPU's heat sinks. Bring one of those miserable compressors and blow thru ventilation openings well from every direction you can find.

Listen to the computer closely for any weird sound like rattling. A fan could be malfunctioning. Also put your hand against the ventilation openings and make sure there's air flow. Run some intensive programs too to check if the fans are reacting to extra use as they should be. The sound and the airflow can give an impression for that.

A well maintained computer used in the right environment does not need third party gadgets to help, unless it is for luxury or case specific reasons.

Remember, grasshoppers are a good source of protein and some people actually eat them. Just in case you didn't know.

Just a heads up. I worked for a wonderful firm called "Wizard Computers" for a number of years.... way... way .wayyyyy. back when.... One idea our founder often told clients was this, "We have forgotten more than most technical staff have ever learned." I've always loved that quote. :D:rolleyes:

Sharia rule: apply the basic maintenance first before resorting to expensive or time consuming solutions.
