Laptop problems

Luciferi Baphomet

A lot of the times my laptop likes to randomly shut off on me. I really do hate that. Idk why it does that. My laptop sucks sometimes.

Does it actually shut down? Or does it just go into sleep mode?

Could be an overheating problem. My laptop used to do that all the time before I installed a temperature monitoring program and throttled the processor.

I'm a little confused. The title of this thread is "laptop problem" but maybe it should have been called "@Priestess of Lucifer problem".
After all, I don't see the laptop complaining here...

I agree with SF. Is it really hot when it shuts off?

All computers have a thermal switch logic to shutdown if you go past certain temperatures. Usually, the CPU and GPU slows down first so you might see a decrease in performance.

How old is your laptop? You might need to buy some air cans and blow out the vents. You might even find youtube videos on how to open and clean your laptop if you have a popular model. I would only recommend this if you are comfortable with electronics because you can short the circuitry and kill the entire thing.

There's also laptop coolers that you can place your laptop on but it really depends on the mechanical construction of your laptop to ensure air flow.

Sometimes or it might just be a technical problem. I have dropped the laptop once and the screen cracked all over but I got the screen replaced. This happened a few years ago.
Has it been doing the shutting down thing since you dropped it or is the shutting down "feature" a relatively new occurance? How old is the notebook?

It could be heat, it could be a loose wire, the motherboard may be shot... without more specifics it could be a number of problems.

Most computers need to be in a 70 degree room max to work correctly. It is possible that you have dust up in the vents of your computer (most likely problem) just taking the hose end attachment or the small brush and clean out all visible vents should help a great deal. (Turn it off first!) Processor throttling is unnecessary, unless it is making grindy noises from the fan it is just dirty. Dust off, or vacuum and done. The processor will usually throttle itself unless it gets to 90c (about 180F) then there is a hard cut-off to save the processor.

I'm thinking demonic possession, myself. Seriously though, without more information, it is virtually impossible to fix the situation.
