Lauren Southern makes it into Australia

Kinda wish I'd put the "It's OK to be white" statement in the heading - probably would've made the thread seem almost as sexy as Lauren Southern herself.

So what, exactly, did you wish to debate?

It was more fishing for discussion regarding a controversial figure who had difficulties gaining a visa from Canada to Australia something that should've been a walkthrough for her - but was encumbered due to her political views and stances.

It's an article that absolutely reeks of irony given the various forms of debate that immigration has sparked over the last two years.

Just so we are clear, if she had troubles getting a visa the Turnbull government is to blame

I see your point, but it's interesting that a blonde, blue eyed, far right, Canadian populist with no criminal record had any difficulties at all.

It begs the question of whether more stringent screening of visas is actually prejudiced at all.

I can only hope the Australian public will reconsider some of its collective default assumptions.

Dead on.

I've certainly noticed that since the days of Keating and the discourse that flowed through the Howard years, the Australian media started to lag in terms of its socio-political discourse; the media in particular seems to have an ill-founded presumption that Australian society is somehow more multicultural and socially progressive than the rest of the west when in fact it seems that they've completely missed what has been going on over the last 3-10 years.

If anything, they should pay closer attention to what Southern has to say and attempt to do so without their prejudices.

I assume any attempt for you to make such an explanation would result in a rather hard hit to your credibility.

I can't see how stating that "Being white is OK" could possibly be a racist message unless you are someone who believes that being white is not okay or if you believe that all Caucasians are inherently racist.

So what's your position Sub? Is it as racist as the one I've inferred from you?

Being white is not okay.

What would lead you to such a conclusion?

I've been taught it's something to be ashamed of, like being a leper.

Being a bigot is acceptable where im from, as long as you are not white.

I wouldn't blame the people, though.
Australia has been strong and has showed that the London sultanate has no power over her.

Unfortunately the mayor of Auckland, NZ is still under that bad influence and banned the two Canadian heroes from speaking at council venues.
