Lawn mower sputtering

My lawn mower started sputtering in the middle of mowing my lawn today. I looked up the causes. Spark plug? So I changed out the spark plug, still did it. Air filter? Air filter was pretty dirty so I changed that out. Still did it. Dirty underneath the blade? Nope, it's clean under there. Ethanol gas? Well, I did use gas with ethanol in it from the gas station, the cheaper one, so that likely could be what's making it sputter.

I was wondering if it's really important that I drain this ethanol gas I have in it and replace it with regular gas? I guess it would continue to sputter until I replaced the gas in it... so there's my answer. Just wanted thoughts. I'm surprised using ethanol just this one time would cause this to sputter already

For your mower, you should not use gasoline with an ethanol rating higher than E10. Because ethanol fuel will absorb water directly from the atmosphere and subsequently retain it, ethanol is especially hard on the carburetors of small engines.​
