Lebanese Christian Leader Assassinated

Hmmm... they actually made a mistake, doing this - to a certain degree. Since the war in Lebanon, polls have consistently showed a majority of both the Lebanese Muslims and Christians are united in their desire to no longer live in a country vaguely allied with the United States, and more than half support a return of Syrian influence, which they now ironically associate with relative safety.

Targetting a Christian leader could have some impact on those numbers. But targetting a Christian leader who is anti-Syrian influence may not. We'll have to wait and see.

But it's going to be a different country. You can't kill thousands of civilians over two soldiers abducted by a terrorist group and not expect things to change drastically. Hezbollah used to be a popular means of expressing the desire to protect Lebanon and ensure the return of the Shebba Farms from Israeli occupation, now it's seen as the only way. And that's going to have some consequences for everyone involved.
