Left handedness. New scientist theory.

Scientists think they have found the reason some people are left-handed — and it has nothing to do with the brain

A new theory on handedness has come out with the idea that handedness isn't brain related in It's origination but spinal.

I want to find out who here is left handed. Obviously I am, so I would.like to discuss with other lefthanders, why do you read or engage in religious forums at all?

Mine reason. is related to how I experience, I disregard "belief,"" non belief," "agnosticism" and treat it as " normal" neurology. . I also use the site to understand that sector of culture as well. Numinous or presence is an interesting topic to me it isn't discussed here which is curious as well. .

And to not forget the tech sector, two lefthanders discussing technology. If you don't know who they are, well what can I say you aren't a geek.

Well, I was right handed until I broke my arm, dislocated it, and tore the ligaments. Thankfully it's healed up nicely, though I do use my left hand more than my right one now.

What about us ambidextrous people?

Most of the time we pretend to be right-handed... :D

1) Computer mice are angled for right-y.

2) Gun holsters and controls are right-y.

3) Can write with either hand, but most people pass you a pen to your right.

4) Doors. All doors are right handed.

5) Right-handed guitars are cheaper and more numerous, so I learned to play them right. I rode skateboards 'lefty' and shoot anything (bows, firearms) lefty stance, but right holds. Left eye is dominant. Same with when I took martial arts... left stance :D

6) Car shifters are only made for right-y. The only advantage is that my left and right hands are to the same ability so I can steer with my 'main hand' while my shift hand is down. Right-handed folks have to take their preferred hand off.

7) Power buttons on every device are on the right. You don't even have to guess.

8) Toilet handles are on the left, only time my life gets easier. :D

For every other use - it's whichever hand is closer. It does pay off in first-person shooter games as I can strafe as well as I aim. :D

Anyway, my plight being explained :) to answer the OP.

1) Sometimes I have no freaking idea.

2) Snark.

3) 1 in 100 posts, maybe, someone says something that sparks a line of thought that leads to an "A ha!" moment.

The left hand of my darkness relates to forgetting what the book was all about. :D Righty-right says my handy-hand and the left always sulks.

Lefties are aware there are actually mice that are indifferent! Google it!!!

2) Gun holsters and controls are right-y.
Of course 99.99999% of NRA members are right handed. What lefties belong are confused individuals wanting to belong.
3) Can write with either hand, but most people pass you a pen to your right.
I sometimes hold out my left hand when people want to shake hands just for entertainment..
4) Doors. All doors are right handed.
As a finish carpenter that obviously your interior designer thinking has taken over.
5) Right-handed guitars are cheaper and more numerous, so I learned to play them right. There should be a law against this. It drives the prices up and the selection is narrow.

I rode skateboards 'lefty' and shoot anything (bows, firearms) lefty stance, but right holds. Left eye is dominant. Same with when I took martial arts... left stance :D yes but most importantly which hand do you use when?

This is why England drives on the correct side of.the road..shifters in English cars are on the left.
The only advantage is that my left and right hands are to the same ability so I can steer with my 'main hand' while my shift hand is down. Right-handed folks have to take their preferred hand off. Oh it's like playing the piano the same thing for motorcycles. Now guitars are different they are handed for a particular reason. Although I have thought of switching my bike up and letting people try and ride it. Just for fun.

7) Power buttons on every device are on the right. You don't even have to guess.
Yes, it's because right handed people would freak out if it was otherwise. They would develop conspiracy theories p e try soon it would be burn the lefties.
8) Toilet handles are on the left, only time my life gets easier. :D NOW THAT ONE TRUE AND I HAD NOT THOUGHT OF IT but I bet it has to do with the old it's unsanitary so we will use our left to flush. Europeans have a button.in the centre.of the top.

  1. For every other use - it's whichever hand is closer. It does pay off in first-person shooter games as I can strafe as well as I aim. :D agreed I actually have to use two hands, and when drawing angels in the snow. It's way more effective.

Anyway, my plight being explained :) to answer the OP.

1) Sometimes I have no freaking idea.
Ha!!! This is a rules violation due to honesty
2) Snark.
Ha, I have never ever been snarky myself.
3) 1 in 100 posts, maybe, someone says something that sparks a line of thought that leads to an "A ha!" moment. Agreed.. and that the cool thing in life. And I hoped you laughed at my absurd responses.

I'm left-handed.
Von, the reason I brought up the topic is that handedness is an unconscious phenomena that we experience consciously as handedness.

Not only that the article I posted says it's not even developed in the brain. In religion there is a dominance toward the unconscious. In Catholic tradition it's called the sacred heart. A bit of the heart over head theme that many or I should more accurately state feel over idea concept. Your take would be nice?

Oh jeez... Thankfully the orthopedic surgeon who worked on me was so talented. I've got about 90-95% functionality in my right arm (even with all the hardware) thanks to his hard work.

Forcing one's brain to get used to a completely different way to interact with the world is surreal. The hardest thing was teaching myself to write left handed. My letters are still jankey looking, though at least they are somewhat legible. o_O

Welcome to my psychological emotional world as I went to college to get a degree in theology simply because I had an experience. A bit like learning a foreign language with zero comprehension skills to comprehend It and graduating purely on rote memory skills. I understand today I was attempting to be "normal". My friends today laugh at that when I say that they know my goofy funny.

W:D yes but most importantly which hand do you use when?

Firearms, bows, and guitars all have the same problem: made for right-handed use. Some nice designers on really expensive firearms add ambidextrous controls, but you still usually cannot do everything with both hands. Some have a safety that operates on both sides, the mag release will, but slide probably cannot be locked other than from right hand position. I just teach myself to do everything right even if I can do it left equally. Left guitars are always a couple of hundred more in most cases, so that wears out quick. Lefty firearms exist, but they also have zero resale potential. (same with bows) It makes no sense to buy them really, and a friend of mine who has a lefty son asked me about guitars and I told him learn right from the beginning and save thousands of dollars over your life. He did, and you wouldn't even know he's lefty watching him play. In anything that requires depth perception I'll always use a left stance because my vision is better. BUUUT... right everything is cheaper... :D So, even if you are a lefty use right stuff and your wallet stays fuller. Anyway, at this stage of my life I've just trained myself to use certain hands for certain things. I might write with either though just depending on where I am sitting or what I am doing.

In regards to guitar, rhythm is dominate left handed for me. I tried to learn right handed for a year and it was impossible for me. I finally decided to try a cheap lefty and I was instantly better left handed without ever playing left handed at all. It was like wow this is weirdly automatic. It was at least for me not just a learning issue. In regards to price and selection. I have had to shop used, and extremely cautious to what I purchase. I picked up a very nice taylor last year which for me is fancy. Maybe a Martin someday just for fun but my playing must improve first that's my rule and goal.

In firearms I never really paid super close attention since it's mostly been pull the trigger... oops squeeze the trigger for me . I am partial to .22 long rifles. I want to get one with a suppressor. Don't ask me why I just like them, they are super cheap and fun, I don't shoot animals, that's all I know.
