Well, they've definitely sold out to right-wing corporate/capitalist interests. In that sense, there's very little difference between left and right. I don't know that they're actually trying to "destroy identities," although it seems as if they're using identity politics to keep the masses confused, off balance, and somewhat at odds with each other.
Quite the opposite. You should have listened to Steve Bannon who spoke before she did at that conference.
He said that they use division to control...unity is reached through common values\identities

It's an old trick used by politicians for centuries, if not millennia. People keep falling for it. But that's all the more reason why they would want to keep identities intact, not destroy them. By keeping different groups of people compartmentalized in disparate groups, it keeps them at odds with each other and secures the position of the ruling class.
What I've seen from both sides is that they're invariably focused on what they think the other side wants to do or is planning to do, suggesting some sort of insidious secret agenda. Both sides do it to a large extent. They exaggerate and use a lot of scare tactics. Usually Hitler gets mentioned at some point.
You're speaking with an European who is totally unaware of the political-cultural mechanisms of the US.
The mind of an European is definitely incapable of understanding the gigantic macrocosm called America because Europe is made up of tiny microcosms called nation-states.
An European doesn't understand the difference between nation and state...so national identity is something carved in our DNA.
We just want to preserve it.
What I saw there was a conservative - or a radical chic rightist if you will - with an agenda, which is to malign and mischaracterize liberals and liberalism. I'm liberal, and I neither want nor know anybody who wants to strip her or anybody else of their identities and substitute numbers for names.
My agenda is for the world to get along, to curb disease, hunger, and poverty where possible, and to make life as free and full of opportunity as possible. The conservative agenda is to oppose that - to try and concentrate wealth, power, and privilege into the hands of the 1%. To do that, they consistently attack liberals and liberalism, the great impediment to that plan.
Conservatism is wrenching darker skinned children from their mothers' arms and caging them. Conservatism is rolling back environmental protection that save lives to increase industrial profits. Conservatism is destabilizing banks for profit and leaving the taxpayer with the mess and the bailout. Conservatism is tax breaks for the wealthy, war for profit, and private prisons. Conservatism is pouring greenhouse gases into the atmosphere for profit without regards to consequences. Conservatism is non-stop propaganda through media outlets.
Liberals oppose that.
That conservatism sounds horrific....btw...just let me tell you that Europe is made up of liberal-socialist states (we had a socialist party and a communist party until 1992) so our "right-wing" is more "socialistic" and btw..the lady in the video was born in a very humble economic context of the lower classes' Rome.
