But maybe, and stay with me here, maybe Matt Gaetz is just an idiot. Maybe there is no plan. I know, that seems far out there, but do your own research.
Maybe it's time to investigate him and a few others to see if they're being paid by Putin and/or Xi. They're certainly acting like they don't care what happens to the USA.

Maybe they are just going to start procedures and then try to drag them out until the election is over. They know that they do not have any evidence. And they also probably know that impeachment trials where what the President did does not rise to the level of "high crimes and misdemeanors" can hurt the party holding those trials. I am not talking about Trump. His trials if anything showed the duplicity of the Republican party. I am talking about Bill Clinton's impeachment trial. Though guilty of the crime that he was accused of, lying under oath, very few thought that it rose to the level of an impeachable offense and the Republicans did not fare all that well in the next election.
In other words they think that a dark cloud hanging over Biden might help them. They know that they will not get a conviction in the Senate no matter what.

But at least they were pretty sure they would get the impeachment, and they did. I doubt they will even be able to get this Biden impeachment through the house, it won't even reach the Senate.

I believe now I was insufficient earlier in signaling my sarcasm.
In seriousness I have a difficult time taking the republican action here seriously. Mostly because there is little evidence Biden has done an impeachable thing. Also if he did then I would like them to bring it to light and lets impeach him. But its pretty obvious whats going on. Are things against Donald Trump somewhat politically motivated? Yes. For sure politicians are using everything in their pocket against him. Are the things he did real and actually deserving of legal consequences? Also yes. We meme about Hillary and her killing people and we meme about Biden doing things but at the end of the day they are just your standard politicians doing politician things in politician land.
So let me make the prediction here and now and lets see how it pans out. The Republican's have a really minor lead in the House so they will probably just squeeze the first part of the impeachment through purely on political grounds. Even if the evidence clearly states no wrongdoing. Then it will go to the senate where it will fail but also by a narrow margin. Biden will continue to be president but the Right will never ever ever ever ever shut up about how Biden is technically impeached and has besmirched the office of the president despite Trump having been impeached before as well.
As far as how the elections go? Oh I have no idea how those will go. I dont' know how these will affect the elections.

I could be wrong, I am not one of those who pretends they can see the future. But I have reasons why I think the impeachment will fail in the house.
A couple weeks ago McCarthy promised that he would not call for an impeachment inquiry without having a floor vote. He didn't have a floor vote, and I think that is because he knew he didn't have the votes. All it would take is four Republicans to not vote for it (vote no, vote present, or simply not be there). That is all it would take, four.
I have this suspicion that the many Americans who like and support Trump have a certain envy of all those crazy people on reality TV shows, and by supporting Trump they play a small part in a real life reality show catastrophe. Just think, all these insecure people whose lives are largely meaningless can feel like thay have global significance if they vote for Trump. That the net result is chaos and tragedy is just the drama they want to see happen.
If a person shoots a gun in the air and the bullet hits an innocent person, the shooter is accountable. But if he votes for a criminal president and there's negative consequences where people die, well all he did was vote. I think Trump supporters are dangerous people and they get a kick out of seeing people harmed.
