Let's do something together in these blessed days

Among the great seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, which start today November 7. Allah has favored these days over other days, as Prophet Muhammad said,

"There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." The people present asked, "Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?" He said: "Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out by himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything." (Al-Bukhari)

How do you plan to invest in these blessed days? What righteous deeds do you suggest for your fellow Muslims to do on these days? How do you plan to spend the day of Arafah?

Your suggestions? :)

Well, seeing as this is Religious Education Forums, why don't you tell us about the significance? I've never heard of this. :)

Al-Aqsa Is In My Heart.
Jazaki Allah kul khayr for the reminder...

What I suggest is:
1- Fasting
2- Making Dua'a for each other and for the whole Ummah before breaking the fast and especially in the day of Aarafa...
3- Giving (charity)...
4- Calling, or visiting our relatives ( I know we do that in Eid, but it would be more nice and unexpected if it was in these days)...
5- Praying the Sunnan, and to pray Qiyamm too...
6- Reading as much as we can from Qur'an with contemplation....
7- And to finish reading the sealed nectar (this one is exclusive to me)...:D

So what do you think?

May Allah enable us to do many righteous deeds in these blessed days...

Sure thing :)
You know Storm, the days we are in now are days of pilgrimage (Hajj) to Mecca. Dhul-Hijjah is the last month in the Islamic calender. On the ninth of which the pilgrims stand on Arafat Mountain which is the most important ritual of al-Hajj.

We believe that the first ten days of this month are very blessed. So we should increase our worship and good deeds like fasting, praying, reciting the Qur'an, asking God's forgiveness, charity, helping others...etc. during them and use the chance to improve our relationship with God, ourselves and all those around us and and to correct our faults. And great rewards are awaiting us.

Also fasting the ninth day i.e Day of Arafah is highly recommended for the rest of Muslims who are not performing Hajj. The prophet said: "Fasting on the day of 'Arafah is an expiation for two years, the year preceding it and the year following it..."

After the Day of Arafah i.e on the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah Muslims around the world celebrate Eid Al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) on which a lot of Muslims slaughter animals to share their meat with their relatives, neighbours and the poor. This Eid commemorate the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma'il) as an act of obedience to God, but instead was able to sacrifice a ram (by God's command).

I think it is hard for most of us, but we can better read certain portion with contemplation, instead of reciting the whole Qur'an so quickly to finish it in less than 10 days.....

Boo-h!
Baraka Allahu fekom :)

What's so beautiful about Hajj is that it reminds us with the day of judgment. People only wear "Ehram" or simple pieces of cloth, they are all alike, no matter how rich or prestigious he used to be, they walk in millions towards the same places. It's magical!
