For the second time in two days I've seen people remind others that DIR threads are only for members of a particular belief, although questions (no comments) by outsiders are allowed.

If you recall, before the RF evolution of late there were two types of DIR threads: Blue and Green. According to current RF rules this distinction is still with us:

"-For any DIR or discussion sub-forum that is colored blue, non-members of that area are limited only to respectful questions, and are not allowed to make any non-question posts."
And

"-For any DIR or discussion sub-forum that is colored green, non-members of that area may make respectful posts that comply with the tenets and spirit of that area. This includes questions, as well as knowledgeable comments."

Of course we no longer have Blue and Green DIRs, so I see no reason to assume that only the Blue rule remains in effect---as indicated by the two remarks I refer to. Because I'm a liberal of sorts I prefer to take the more liberal approach and regard DIRs today as Green rather than Blue. Obviously, this can' be a unanimous choice so how about clarifying the issue:

Exactly what does today's DIR designation signify? And, can we ever get back to the Blue and Green options? (or maybe junk the blue option altogether?

While we're at it, how about having everyone declare their religion under their avatar, like in the good ol' days.

And then there's purple.
I'm sure that once staff finish debauching & partying, they'll get around to a fix.

That sounds about right.

I don't know about this. I personally have an issue seeing what DIR if any a thread is posted in. The colors on this new forum are dull and I don't see well. The old forum colors were beautiful. I wish I had the dark layout like in the past

I hope that we can still ask respectful question in DIRs. I like asking questions in the pagan one.

I got kicked out of the "Catholics DIR" because LVCIFER INVICTVS changed "his" religion without telling me.
I've been a Catholic since I was born.
Tom
Not anymore apparently.
So, which religion did you switch to from Catholicism?

I think the problem with the green DIR was that too many people mistook that knowledgeable comments, for Christian or Islamic preaching. :D

Rules & Guidelines | ReligiousForums.com no longer has a discussion of rule 10, only a statement of existence of a rule. There are no blue and green colors. Thus I expect the issue to get hotter as time goes by and new people come who say that there are really no rules any longer just a few people insisting that they speak for a particular DIR.

Seriously, even without colors all that is really needed is to add back the detailed description of the rules and for each DIR to have a sticky saying that this is a blue or green DIR.

Wrong. Here it is. (post #2) See "source" below for link.

10. Discuss Individual Religions Forums/Same Faith Debates/"Only Sections"
The DIR subforums are for the express use for discussion by that specific group. They are not to be used for debate by anyone. People of other groups or faiths may post respectful questions to increase their understanding. Questions of a rhetorical or argumentative nature or that counter the beliefs of that DIR are not permitted. DIR areas are not to be used as cover to bash others outside the faith. The DIR forums are strictly moderated and posts are subject to editing or removal.

-For any DIR or discussion sub-forum that is colored blue, non-members of that area are limited only to respectful questions, and are not allowed to make any non-question posts.

-For any DIR or discussion sub-forum that is colored green, non-members of that area may make respectful posts that comply with the tenets and spirit of that area. This includes questions, as well as knowledgeable comments.

The Same Faith Debates subforum is specifically for debate between members of the same faith. Members that are not part of a same faith debate thread's selected faith may not post at all in those threads. The Political "Only" subforums are also used specifically for that group and may not be posted in by members that do not correspond to the political position of the subforum. These two forums are colored purple.

Grr. The rules that are captured in the "Terms and Rules" item at the bottom right of every page are not linked to the rules you cited. That should be fixed at least since I'm sure I'm not the only one who will see the obvious and not see the obscure.

I honestly don't see what difference these colors make if people just follow common sense and respect each other.

Or is rudeness/disrespect a norm these days that we have to govern them in some contexts only?

Why can't we just be nice to each other? Or at least avoid senseless, either head-on or implied, bashing and hate?

Well at least lets come together and watch cartoons and laugh at it happily once every while!

Yep several people have said the same thing. They don't like the pale washed out colors.

You are asking to much of people. Gotta remember that only 1% of the human population actually has good intentions :D

I've had huge problems with this, on this laptop the site is just about washed out white. Sometimes I must highlight text just to read.

Flashing red DIRs for "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here" discussions or rather flame wars. :)
Oh, I experience paroxysms of passion thinking of a place wherein I can really flame on, & vent without restraint! Beware RF villains! I wield limericks bashing your intelligence & mocking your private parts!

I thought it was bashing your private parts and mocking your intelligence. But now I see it works both ways.
